Why on earth are there no smiting focus items?

No collectors or greens anyways.

There aren't a lot though. On the bright side, there aren't many times where a 20/20 smiting staff wouldn't suffice anyway. (Though I'll admit there're situations where it's a focus you're in need of specifically, as with a w/mo with smiting prayers when you want a little backup energy or some such thing)

I believe there is a 20/20 smiting staff though in the desert. It takes 5 Griffon wings. If I knew the name of zones I'd say where it is, but it's right next to a zone marker.

It is, as if you enter the code it becomes attatched to your account. You would have to buy the key, and there is no way to tell if the key is BS or not.

it's preorder so it will be customised (assuming it works like every other preorder). As soon as you 'create' one it becomes customised to the char you made it on. If it wasn't people could make one, sell, make one, sell, ma... you get the picture Easy money... and I'd be selling my chimeric prism :P

Hmm, diessa icon or bust... although since it has only +6 energy, you could get any old unlinked +6 energy focus from post searing ascalon, since up to +6 energy foci can drop without a req iirc.

My smiter runs with a healing ankh atm, but imo the best offhand a smiter can get, apart from the never to be found ivor's icon, is an inspiration offhand, as inspiration skills complement signet smiting nicely. But on the other hand, it would be nice to see a proper smiting focus in factions.

EDIT: Also, theres one reason rod and focus > Staff.

You dont have to spend a shedload of cash upgrading the rod/focus, but a staff is gonna be insightful and enchanting/defence/fortitude etc - a lot of money that not everyone has.

there arent alot of pure direct smite skills anyway. i tried to turn mine into a smiter to releive the dissatisfaction with it, but it really didnt work out as i hoped

I'd tend to disagree. Theres plenty of smiting skills, but as is the case with any attribute, only a few decent skills within it. Smiters can be very dangerous when using a signet build and scourge smiters are a useful asset too. Ever seen a blood necro with awaken the blood AND scourge sacrifice on him use a sac skill? Trust me, it's very, very funny (Or I'm just evil )

Yeah..Theres also no collectors who give strength based shields for warriors either.

It's an incredibly large pain in the arse that the only way for me to get a good shield is to have to buy one for an asinine price.

ok, so let me pose this .. can we see some good smite builds ? i dont see alot of talk on that subject

My favourite build for PvE smiting is Signet of Judgement/Mantra of Signets/Mantra Of Inscriptions/Bane Signet/Smite Hex. The other 3 skills are situational, but usually consist of some of the following: Smite, Scourge Healing (mostly in fissure for the skeletal bonds,) Scourge Sacrifice, Energy Tap (For more energy heavy builds,) Symbol of Wrath, (as both a detterent and situationally a damage dealer too,) Purge Conditions and usually I bring Rebirth, mostly because I'm always furthest from the enemy, (I like to kite ) and last to die

Damage comes in fits and starts, but it's guaranteed knockdown which has so many uses and when I'm not doing the damage, I can at least look out for the odd hex or condition. Bane signet isnt that essential, it's all about sig of judgement really.

Maybe it's not that great a build, I dunno. But for sure, it's a fun one to play

Depending on the focus being used, the attributes change. I know staffs are superior for the most part, but I cant be bothered with the fuss of acquiring perfect upgrades for them or going hunting for someone who will sell me the Ivor Helmhewer greens. I'll stick with my collectors smiting rod and my healing ankh what I found with +26 health and armour +6 Vs Plants... Oh Yessss

By the way, the same build being run by two or more Mo/Me but with added arcane mimicry is superb fun. Pretty much constant threat of knockdown is very nice...

EDIT: I don't often PvP, so I cant comment on that.

EDIT No2: I just noticed that Theus just stated that there are no strength based shields available from collectors. Now, I'm happy to tell you Theus, that there is indeed now a strength based shield collector: The +60/-3 hexed shield available from the collector outside of Camp Rankor is req 9 Strength, so your prayers have been answered, friend. I dont know if it has always been strength, but it certainly is now.

They need beastmastery staffs and focuses too.

Uhm, why? From memory, beastmaster skills don't take that much energy, do they?

To be a good beastmaster you need 16 points into beastmastery,which in turn only leaves a few points to put into either Expertise or Marksmanship, or both.

Which is really constraining since most of your skill bar will be consisting of pet skills.

Its not really the energy, but as a beastmaster, you have 16 beastmastery, and you usually want to put points into expertise and one of your secondary atributes, leaving you with no points in marksmanship, making a bow useless. I use a smiting staff for my pvp beastmaster. The staff makes it so I have plenty of energy to cast balth aura whenever it recharges, while spamming my pet attacks.

Slightly off topic:

Why are there no Fast Casting req items?
There are items that req for all the other primary attributes (expertise? not sure on that one)

There is even a Kole's Gauntlet (I think that's the one) that has soul reaping as a req. There aren't even any skills in soul reaping. At least in Fast Casting there is 1 skill.

If I am wrong and there are some FC req items out there please tell me where to find them.
