Title pretty much says it all,

Do we have a major bot problem in Guildwars atm ?

Reason i'm asking is i was in Droknars American district 1 earlier today ( around 10.30am - 11.30am GMT ) and saw the now usual monk lemming train heading out of the north zone portal. Didn't think too much of it at first until i watched exactly how many were going through. In the space of 3 minutes i counted 217 monks ( and all were a different name as far as i could keep up.) Passed through the portal, thats more than 1 per second.

So obviously Anet isn't as on top of this problem and i was lead to believe and droknars isn't the only place, Augory rock was another likely place to see the lemming train pre-griffon nerfing.

So my query is wot exactly is and can Anet do about it, surely this type of thing isn't helping the already flakey so called economy this game supposedly has, and wot with Factions just around the corner surely something needs to be done to kerb this type of activity. ( at least now i know how a lot of ppl get all these uber amounts of money / items, those that aren't ebayers ne way.)

Ok enough of my ramblings plz post your comments, views and suggestions on this as i'd like to hear wot the community has to say.....

Well you have to take into consideration how many people actually play the game, and are addicts like me... Im not doubting that there are bots but not ALL of them are, maybe a hand full, I see your point though.... the economy is dropping either way, maybe the real solution is to lessen the drop ration (I MEAN REALLY LESSEN) the drop ratio for rare items such as ecto/shards/golds etc etc.

any measure like that would only make the rich richer (they've already have a bucket load of ectos) and leave everyone else in the dirt :|

My thoughts are there are 50,000 posts about it already, and it's changed nothing. Make that 50,001.

I care not for them, as long as they stay away from my farming group, and don't bug me to sell stuff. They can do what they want, although i have noticed a big increase on the US server.. Especially at droks.

Isnt that how it is now? People who arent in a "1337" guild never ever have a chance in hell to get one of those crystaline swords that go for mad money. Im not talking about just flat out owning the drop rate, just lessening it over time so people wont really notice.. You have a 55 monk, I have a 55 monk, everyone has a 55 monk so farming like an animal is no problem.

There are not much droppings neither gold nor items from trolls as I know, I doubt if farming trolls can get someone rich

I've been hitting them up for EXP lately. I'm averaging 500g per run, I'd say. Once in a long while you'll get a lucky drop, but the odds really aren't in your favor if you're looking for quick cash.

I think the funniest part about this whole situation is that people are now spamming "WTB ALL YOUR MOUNTAIN TROLL TUSKS!" Sure, you can run stacks of them to either of the two collectors, but none of the items they offer is stackable. Thus, any sizeable collection of Mountain Troll Tusks is going to take you several trips to liquidate. But hey, if you have nothing better to do, go for it, I guess.

Let's see. A stack of 250 tusks means you'll get 250/5 = 50 items from the collector. Your inventory is, at max, 20+5+10+10 = 45 slots. So you've already hit overflow on one stack. I guess the best thing to do is farm/buy tusks until you get 45*5 = 225 tusks, then take them and nothing else to the collector. Once you sell the items, that run should net you 45*125 = 5625g, minus any expenses you incurred if you bought the tusks.

Have at it.

monk farmers are annoying (lowest common denominator FTW) but really, by overfarming all they do is make stuff cheaper to buy, which is great, since i'm interested in buying. it makes it a buyer's market, which makes it suck if you have something to sell, but hey, it's gonna be either a buyer's market or a seller's market. in the end, it'll reach equilibrium as people tired of selling their farms for nothing quit farming, and prices go up. or, if it's the other way around (seller's market), people will get tired of paying jacked up prices and will make farmers and go get their own stuff, so prices will in the end go down. it works itself out in the end.

The only bots that really irritate me are sale spam bots. The rest are just a part of life. I don't think I've ever played an online game that didn't have bots. Q1, Q2, HL, HL2, CS, WC, SC, WC2, D1, D2... hell, I think there were even some bots/hacking back in the Duke Nukem days. o_O

if the only solution to take care of bot farming is to decrease the rate of decent drops...

well that just shoots the general population of players right in the ass. how the hell are we normal players going to find, earn and get what we want? I say make the drops more common so the actual need to have someone go farm for you is completely pointless...

They don't farm only the trolls, they farm friggin everything.

One day I was in euro droks and got invoted intoa random group. There was 1 ranger and 1 monk in the group, the ranger was leader.
I asked what this party was for and the ranger said: "dunno, killin stuff".
The monk never said anything.

We entered Talos Chute and the ranger died. I hadn't even set up my skills yet so I had only 3 skills and died. The monk however, he used a boatload of skills, destroyed the entire team of avicaras, trolls and those big thingies who throw rocks.
He seemed to be an invincimonk of some sort but he killed everything at huge speed.
I tried to figure out what his build was but then one of the avicaras dropped a gold armour. It was for me but I was dead. The ranger had already left.

The monk just stood there for a minute, watching the rune he couldn't pick up. He then WALKED all the way back to droks and in droks, he left the party.

1. He went his own way.
2. He never said a thing
3. He got stuck picking up an item he couldn't pick up
4. Instead of using the map to go back to droks, he ran there.
5. He has some weird build that allows him to farm practically everything in there.
6. His name was similar to the names of the botmonks (they're all in the same guild or have the same cape).
7. He was a member of one of the botguilds.

So afaik, they don't farm just the trolls, they farm everything. I wasn't in the team long enough to get his full skillbar though.

Or maybe I'm just noob

I don't care about bots within GW. Even thought they farmed most of the time and sell items at outragous prices, still they keep the economy going!

It would be much easier scripting a bot or macro to use the map to get back. My guess is that he hoped you'd get tired of waiting and leave the party so he could get your drop. Also, a bot wouldn't be scripted to invite others or accept invites to groups.

I've been seeing alot of posts about botters lately. My honest opinion about them is... LEAVE them alone!!! if thats how they wanna play the game let them play the game that way! o boy they are selling gold on ebay.. wow.. lets take a look...

man look how many people are buying them.... not.. look how many pages they are... tons.. and all of selling gold that no one has either bought it through buy it now or bids..

they ruin the economy? how? they are farming money. you farm money. maybe not as much as them but you do.

everytime i see something saying.. " report their account for botting" it makes me mad because hey thats how they like to play the game. SERIOUSLY people! how bout you play the game and not worry about how others that are playing the game their way!!!!

and dont say buying gold weapons ruins the economy because as far as i know the greens accomplished that awhile ago.

ending my rant about ranters ranting agianst botters ( wow that was hard to say ).
p.s. im sry if this kinda goes off topic form the op but i dont wanna start a new topic about this...

Well I'm gonna say it anyway. buying gold does screw up the economy. You're silly to bring the topic of green items into this. Green items are all about buying items with good mods. There is still a large flow of cash going strong dealing with the sale of items with good skins. It changed things but didn't ruin things. Now on the other hand, pumping huge ammounts of gold into the economy at a rapid rate does screw up the economy. Also, have you ever bought anything on ebay? Did you notice that all those sales on the pic you posted say "Buy it Now" over there on the right? Those aren't single sales, they are gold shops. Millions of people can "Buy it Now" on the exact same auction because they've set it up as a shop. People are buying (not bidding) that gold every day. It just doesn't show you because it's not an auction type sale.

Also on a new note. You said to let "them" play the game how they want to. Well since a lot of "them" are computer programs and not real people, don't understand why I should be inclined to let "them" play how "they" want to. Anyway, do you think the non-bot Chinese are living it large over there in their GW Gold sweatshops? You think it's ok for everyone to exploit them because we can get away with it? We already exploit enough asians by hiring them to make our clothes at low wages. Now, with the sale of virtual gold, we're exploiting them even more because the profit margin for virtual sales is much much higher than the profit margin for the companies who hire Asians to make tangible resources.

Have you been to these so called sweatshops? Without first hand experience or actual evicence, you are in no position to speak on the subject. Do you understand how labor in China works? Probably not. Just because they might make scraps compared to what people make in the states, doesn't mean something is wrong. Labor systems are completely different. No one is being exploited. People have choices, to work, and not to work, whether its making clothes or sitting at a computer.

let me explain my version (im guessing here) on how they "play the game". They are playing a game of "risk" to either a. get caught or b. get away and make there profit( which it seems gold sellers never do because no one bids).
I would say the game is fun for them because they are risking to get banned by using programs that alow the consumer to be afk while the character still plays. On this note.. in a fairness i dont think it is right for botters to get banned. Why? because they bought the game. So? so they spent real money to try and profit from the game * takes look at ss * and it seems it snot working..
it seems pve in this game is becoming like rs classic ( if you dont know what game this is dont ask >.>) which was shut down to free 2 play players because of the insane amount of botters.
IMHO i dont think botters have a farming advantage over "real" players aswell because they have a risk of their accounts being banned. so to all the complainers out their, let them play the game, you play the game your way.. and for christ sake dont report them.

I said wether they are buying it now or bidding AND auctions on ebay that have more than one product to sale has a counter of haw many of the item they have or how mnay you would like to buy. These auctions fail to have this at the bottom of the screen.
Also about the gold and green items... i meant to say gold weapons..

what are they farming outside droks? trolls? if so thats the most worthless spot next to lvl 5 charr farming. are we sure these are bots ? they may be really dedicated people. i know ive "been in a zone" where i follow the same routes repetitivly. i make 1k-30k per solo run where i farm in 10 min. i would find it very odd that these bot designers would be smart enough to design software but dumb enough to farm such a worthless spot.

to those that used to farm griffons and dont know a better spot to farm just go out the other augry rock exit and make a right and stay right ...theres more griffons.. they are also outsided of the dunes mission...not where i farm but its ok if you dont know any better

Ebay is not the worst of them. Mostly cause its easy to catch if Anet is monitoring such things...

There are full MMO Gold exchanges now that have nothing better to do then to destroy every MMO economy in existence. And Ruin gaming for legitimate players. Their logic... Buy More so you can keep up... BULL. One good class action lawsuit from a joint Sony Blizzard NCSoft LucasArts collation would shut those little bastards down and set a precedence for future action. I really hope it comes soon.

I don't have a 55 Monk.

Know why?

Because I prefer to play the game my own way, not the same exact way that half a million other people in my own server play it... I bet my Elementalist can get more cash farming per day than your 55 Monk can.

Yeah if that would solve the problem, they would have done it already. They are selling a service, "I farm you 100k, I charge you this much." Can't really stop that.

You need to look at completed auctions to determine whether its working or not. Yesterday alone (3/19), there was almost 70 million worth of Guild Wars gold purchased.

yeah it is a problem but as far as i know you cant
acturally do something without ruin the game
for normal players.

try talking to the koreans to stop
