I have just brought a max dmge gold chaos axe with stats
Dmge +13 (no req)
-10 armour (while attacking
Lengthens weakness duration on for by 33%
Now I have spoke with a few people in game and they said I could put two upgrades on it and not loose the +13 dmge, but while looking at the auctions I have seen the same mod on a sword and its going for a current bid of 4 mill. Is that mod on a weapon really worth that much ?
Mods on chaos axe

Well give us a link to the auction and more detail on the sword.
The price of the auction sword...assuming it is a crysatalline has really nothing to do with the mod on it.
Chaos axes are far more common than crystallines that's why the price is so high.

to answer your question
Mods come in two forms, prefix and suffix.
The dammage mod is niether a prefix or a suffix, it is an inherent mod and can't be 'swapped out'
Currently you have a prefix mod (weakness) so you have a heavy chaos axe right?
adding a suffix mod (of fort, of defense etc) will not remove anything from your axe.
if you add a prefix mod (vamp, zealous, barbed etc) it will remove your lengthen weakness mod.
mkay?

First, the +13% damage, -10 armour is an inherent property of the weapon and cannot be changed. I believe its maximum possible value would be +15%. Some of the more common inherent properties are +x% while enchanted, +x% while health < or > 50%, +x% while in a stance, etc.
Second, the increased weakness duration is a mod, a Heavy Axe Haft if I remember the order of mods on axes. Hence the name Heavy Chaos Axe. This can be changed.
Last, as for the price, that's a toss-up. I had a Wingblade that was +15% damage, -5 energy, and had quotes ranging from "its trash" to several thousand. Depends on the buyer and unfortunately the herd animal mentality of the playerbase at times. 13%, not being a "perfect" property, would command less than if it was 15%, regardless of whether there's an actual difference in performance.
Hope that helps.

As far as I can tell there is nothing special about the sword, just the mod and yes the axe was a heavy one I just wana make mine into a vamp cos I liked the look.

Your Axe is: Damage +13% and Amor -10 while attacking.
That sword is: Damage +13% always (i.e with no penalties whatsoever). These items have been discontinued and therefore have a lot of value.

The sword has absolutely no negative modifier or conditional situation for the +13% damage to work - It's to do with a bug back in the day - I think it involved replacing a zealous mod on a +x% weapon with -1 energy regen as it's modifier (much like yours has -10 armor). So there are a few +x% damage with absolutely no requirement or negative effects kicking around - though they are very rare, which is why it is selling for so much
I think you could probably get about 10k for that chaos axe - the just in price between 13% - 15% being the modifiers is _immense_

He is refering to the Longsword that has UNCONDITONAL +13% damage found here
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/auction/item.php/id=58863/
This is a VERY rare sword it has no conditions on the +13% yours has -10 while attacking. Your Axe is not nearly as rare as this sword is. You can easily get a +15% chaos axe with -10 attacking or -5 Energy or whatever, but to get ANY weapon with an unconditional mod is going to cost you dearly.
EDIT: I guess my post was late
