Post Post-Searing ** Spoilers **

Is the bleak landscape of post-searing permanent, or will the beautiful countryside return at some point in the game? I don't want massive mega spoilers, I just want to know if I'll be playing in charcoil forests for the rest of the game.

Nah, it gets better once you cross the mountains

Different areas have different looks. Snow covered mountains, jungles, deserts, bleak islands with lava pits. Once you get through old Ascalon things change. Enjoy the game, and the environment.

But you should wait until you further explore more, it does get nice.

IMO none of the post compares to pre landscape wise....the jungles can be, but I think the thought of scarabs and other degens ruins it

I love Kryta's coats lines. In fact, I like just about everythign about Kryta (Kryta is the big green country west of Ascalon, over the mountains). I would dare to say it is a strong rival to pre-sear as far a beauty contest goes.

Out of all the landscapes in Guild Wars, I loved Pre-Searing the most as well. But check out the Wizard's Isle Guild Hall(once you reach Lion's Arch), it has the same look as Pre-Searing Ascalon.

Thanks for the replies. Is my hope misplaced that some time in the latter stages of the game I'll be able to set the world right?

nah, setting the world right is the point of the game.
And, I did find a really pretty spot in Post. I'ts almost dead West of Temple of the Ages. Seriously, just past the dragons.

Unfortunately, if "setting the world right" means restoring Ascalon to its former beauty (as it did in my mind), then you'll never get a chance to. The Ascalon of pre-sear is lost forever (save for the Wizard's Isle guild hall someone mentioned)... and just makes me want revenge on the Charr all the more.
