[ Rubies ~n~ Sapphires ]

Is it true that Rubies and Sapphires Can be Drop in other places?? Instead of UW or FoW

I got a ruby from TOPK and I have seen a sapphire drop there as well.

I had a ruby drop from a fire imp just west of Lion's Arch. Girlfriend had one drop from a gargoyle or grawl just east of Sardelac. At the time, no idea that I should've taken a screenshot. No idea on sapphires.

It is very true, I was helping a friend of mine do some early quests around the Ascalon City area, and a Sapphire dropped for her. It's an extremely rare occurence, but the possibility is there.

Maybe the drop rate will increase once factions come out if they're used in factions. I've never got one to drop and I've played since beta.

I got a ruby, i forgot how. whats it for and how much are they worth? someone offered me 350 gold for it, but I don't think so haha.

I think they're random, like black dyes. I got a ruby off a dead Charr outside Frontier Gates one time.

A guildie of mine when he started playing the game came out of presearing with a ruby. He was asking us what everything was used for and when he asked what a ruby was used for we wondered how a lvl 7 had got hold of something worth 5k that was not black dye.He told us it dropped off a gargoyle in the catacombs.

I think it is like the randomness of black dye. I have had one drop in the shiverpeaks and seen a few drop in Tombs and Underworld.

I had a ruby drop from an Elemental outside Ascalon.

Congratz. Lucky you. I have never seen one, unless in the shops.

I've had a Ruby drop from an Elemental outside Ascalon too, only one I've ever seen though. (Same mob as where my only post searing black dye dropped).

Things like this make me laugh. Not because I don't believe it. I do. It makes me laugh becaue farming outside of Ascalon will take a dramatic jump for a little while now.

i had one drop from fire imps 2.

i found a ruby while being in fow with my guild and on a duo uw run.
and i found a sapphire while solo farming in fow...

beginning of the year, just started playing guildwars, i farmed for gargoyle skulls to get candy canes which i can sell for good money to buy my first droknar armor :P

i had some from aatxe but never outside the uw -_- guess you all are very lucky

I've only ever had gems drop in UW, which seems typical (& FoW).

I am curious to know if anyone has had a gem drop recently in any unusual areas? In the months following the retail release of GW I had a few what I now know to be rare/odd drops in strange places, but I have a suspicion that with patching and game evolution this possibility has been eliminated.


Also, with the introduction of armor that utilizes gems for crafting, the drops should increase as more stones are put back into circulation.

Now, if only ectos would start dropping randomly in the Catacombs....

They can drop anywhere.
