Building a Better Warrior Series: Next Installment?
striderkaaru
hi, all.
since the bbw series is a guide series meant to help out the readers, i'd like to get some feedback on what you would like to see on future installments. obviously, if no one needs help on a certain issue, then there is no need for a guide on it.
the idea for the series first popped into my head when i started to see more "give me xxx build plz" threads, and it began to irk me. i will continue to address issues that i see come up on the forums, but i want to know what particular subjects you, as the reader, would like to read about. don't hesitate to post your thoughts. if you're a forum lurker and there is something in particular on your mind, let your voice be heard.
some possible topics i was considering were:
-going from pve to pvp (beginner)
-controlling aggro (intermediate)
-analysis of equipment: armor, weapons, weapon mods (intermediate)
i might have some advanced topics as well, but i want to hear your feedback first. so, please post what topics you would like to see on future installments of the bbw series, or what concerns you may have as a developing warrior.
as a reference, although i am most known for my posts regarding warriors, i do play the other classes as well. i have characters of all 6 classes. if so desired, it might also be possible for me to expand the series to cover the 5 other classes. don't feel like it would just be limited to warriors. post whatever is on your mind. also, let me know if the guides are actually helping or if you feel like i should just stop. all feedback and criticism is welcomed. i promise not to get hostile. =P
for those of you who are just tuning in and have no idea what i'm talking about, past installments can be found below:
Part I
Part II
and as a last note, please don't ask for farming guides or farming builds.
thanks.

A great topic (albiet maybe beginner level) would be focusing on a warrior build for use in a PvE team.
Many people utilize builds meant for solo warriors in group missions, and many of those skills just aren't necessary for those missions. Examples are skills like Mending and Vigorous Spirit that are just plain overkill for a party with a Monk.
Tieing the warrior's build to the party composition would be a nice complexity wrinkle to add in.

Equipment. It is important in every aspect of the game and can really make or break a build. In fact, I though you should have included it in your original posts because you can as easily design a build around your equipment and the enemies you will face as just the enemies you will face. Feel free to use the info I posted in part II if needed.

"Ideal equipment for your task" Would be somthing I'd like to see.
I'd love to help out with "Building a better Ranger" if you decide to make such a guide.
I'm sorry I don't have any other thoughts on continuing your BBW series, but I think you covered pretty much everything.

I actually think a good topic for your series is PvE to PvP.
There are many too many W/Mos in RA using Dolyak Signet and proclaiming that you can't kill them, that's why you're passing them over.
People just don't seem to understand what the difference between a good farm build and a good PvP build is...
Main reason behind this is just the Dolyak Signet in PvP...
It makes me laugh my ass off to see a warrior use it and wonder why they got passed over...
(self-snares ftw)

Controlling aggro is a difficult task when the other members of your party don't understand what it means. And it only takes one person in 7 to mess up the whole process. Granted there are methods of regaining aggro, but if you can get a party to understand those methods odds are they already know to stand back out of your bubble until you have everything's attention.
If you're going to discuss converting from PvE to PvP, I think all you have to do is list out a lot of skills not to bring. And to bring Frenzy, Sprint, and Ressurection Signet.
Equipment... well, every warrior build that I can imagine that has been taken seriously uses the gladiator's ensemble. If someone can't read "Does not stack" on the Ascalon and Knight's pieces, they are probably too deep in their Mending love to be saved. As long as you mention sundering sucks, and power before vanity, that should be one step in the right direction.

I think a PvE to PvP article would be quite helpful for those that are struggling to understand the difference between them and the strategies that goes into trying to defeat a human opponent and computer AI. (Warriors in PvP are Damage Dealers, while in PvE, they are tanks) I think that is a primary concept that people need to know.

Nice job on the previous installments Strider, and as others have been saying a PvE to PvP topic may be useful to those looking to start up in that area.

As a fairly new Warrior myself, who has read your guides, and learnt something from them (thanks) I think that what would be most useful to a lot of starters is how to build a good PvE team warrior and how to play that team warrior effectively. I took me weeks to learn how to build a half decent warrior and i'm still getting it wrong from time to time.
I think offering help on Adrenal & Energy Skills and how to balance them, What Armour to use, Pulling and Aggro Circles, Strenghts & Weaknesses of key skills etc. would really come in handy to those warriors who are new to the game and end up being more of a hindrance than a help sometimes.
Anyway, I'll be sure to read your guide, whatever you decide.

Aggro managment and general positioning in PvE would be a good one.

If anyone tries to "Build a Better Elementalist" or "Mesmer" in PvE, I'd sort of help. I don't have much ingame time though.
striderkaaru
thanks for all of the feedback, guys.
it seems like i've pretty much hit the mark on what people want to see. based on that, following installments should cover subjects like:
-going from pve to pvp
-the team warrior and aggro
-analysis of equipment
looks like i have my work cut out for me for the next 3 installments.
