So...when is guildwars getting its first expansion

Since guildwars factions isnt considered a expansion and is a standalone game, when is guildwars getting a true expansion too add to the Main guildwars world instead of cantha.

None, according to the audio interview with the cofounder Anet (and main devloper of Guildwars) each game is a campaign and will be different.

As to the future, don't know.

So does this mean if i have a Warrior/monk in guildwars will it still make a impact if i buy factions or do i have to start over? WIll Factions still be treated as a expansion?

well we got SF, there is ruined tombs added on, changes in the desert, etc..

the game is constantly expanding. why ask such a closed minded question? think a lil bit or if that hurts your mind too much just goto Guildwars.com and take a look at their updates link

they said except for seasonal events and minor updates chapter 1 is finished and complete without any major additions planned.

as for the future we do know what is planned.

chapter 3 around november of this year.

no expansions will be offered to chapter one period.

if you merge Factions with your present account you can take your chapter 1 characters at full strength with all loot and items and adventure on in Cantha with no starting over

Factions will stand alone without Prophecies on your computer however if you want to play your prophecies wammo in Factions you will need to join the two games. Basicly "like" an expansion but not... ???

in my opinion:

if you already own guildwars it is an expansion. starting guildwars can get you into factions just by mapping/travelling via person in town

if you dont own GW/dont plan on merging accounts, its stand alone

GW/arenanet is good at making simple stuff sound complicated so thats my real take on it :P

It's two, two, two games in one. It's both a stand alone and an expansion. It's ANet magic in the making. Just sit back and enjoy the show, stop thinking so much about what it is called.

guild wars chapter 1 already had an expansion 6 months ago.
not a huge buy-in-store expansion, but sorrows furnace was definite a large area added to the game, with new weapons, areas, and monsters

since there is no monthly fee, they are going to make thier money by releasing things such as Factions. Its all good, although, I think if they want to get the most out of the Guild Wars engine tehy should release "expansions" like Factions quicker. At the pace they are going Factions will be it, and a new Engine will come out for Guild Wars 2

chapter 3 is in 6 months around november.

they mentioned the graphics would be better already in chapter 2.

Factions is basically a stand-alone expansion.

IGN interview they mention Factions will be DX 9 (instead of current DX 8) and since they both on the same graphics engine, C1 will get it too.

More thing from the audio interview. C1 and C2 "only" users can interact via Battle Isle or Guild Hall's (no matter where the Guild Hall is from).
