The Guild Wars Factions Cinematic Trailers has been released on GuildWars.com -

I guess that's the surprise considering it just came up when I refreshed.

The cinematic is in Lineage 2 style, way the go in sharing technology =P

Also, it seemed everyone in that room was petrified... maybe Nika recieved a special curse just for her.

That cinematic did have few impact on my decision for Luxon or Kurzick.

This video was actually a major disappointment. I hated the narrator voice, and it just seemed like "Oh hey... assassins rock."

The original trailer showed off basically everything there is about the game, aside from monks and necros.

This one just shows an assassin being awesome (doing pretty much what Devona did in the original). Ritualist doesn't use any skills at all, just rings a silly bell then dies... is that foreshadowing to their actual use in game?

The original left me craving for more.

This one made me want to go to bed.

I have to agree with you on all of this. It wasn't all that great, and too short. Though it was beautiful. The scenery was great (especially when that wave goes out turning everything into Jade, freakin cool). The fighting was alright, albeit the camera angles and lighting was off so i couldn't tell what was going on most of the time. But the Assassin ownage, overdone. She soloed the whole thing while the Ritualist got punked while her back was turned...

Which brings up a point... I thought the Ritualist used a third eye of sorts, since their headpiece covers up their eyes, they must see somehow... how did that Ritualist get caught from behind???

LOVED it.

Backgrounds were very beautiful, capturing the asiatic theme quite flawlessly...

Mr. Shiro Tagachi's fight scene was WICKED to say the least... (I actually liked the confusing fast pace because it gives a sense of speed)

The Assassin (Nika) was moving sooo ninja style I almost crapped my pants! Good job Anet ^.^ I hope you come through with those baggy ninja pajamas I want hehe....

That "wave of death" was done nicely as well... I feel bad for the birds...

Only gripes I have about this (very minor I might add) are the narrator voices and the fates of those poor Ritualists... (maybe they should've shown the Ritualist at least "try" to fight...)

The thing that threw me off guard was when Shiro was killed. I had read already that when he was killed he let out a cry that pwned all things into stone but when I watched the video it was just like
*boom! swoosh!*
*clash of action*
*shapang! too fast to comprehend*
*boom! wave of stone transformation*

The camera angles and speed were so jumpy that I don't think I actually saw Shiro being killed, I just saw a split second swoosh of bodies and knives and then all of the sudden he turns into a pillar of smoke and the world starts transforming into stone. Not really complaining here, just noting that it was strange :O Anyway it was fun to watch

The whole 'put the camera 3 centimetres from the action' showed why it is such a bad idea in this one. You didn't actually see any of the action. Very dissapointing.

It was alright, but a badass assassin killing Shiro in what? not even a second? And also, cgi isn't really that great, but it works sometimes.

Movie was superb imo... but i was hoping to see some of the huge battles between the factions. And we only got to see that the forest turned into stone but i'd love to see some ships stranded in the ocean and things going really bad for the world!

I know it's a lot of work to make such movies but it would be absolutely superb if there were some in the final version instead of only the prologue to cantha. (in game i mean)
Or just that they make some more beautiful movies when it is released!!

Another thing... u don't c the assasin getting away unharmed

all bodies still lie there frozen or summit... she'd would make a nice statue in my room that's for sure

Can't wait 2 for the event and release!!

Well that one assasin didnt actually kill Shiro, so she's not too strong, the rit was caught unawares that's why she got hurt and didn't doing anything. So the assasin used like one skill to tele then hit him once then walk away. The two other dudes actually got him. Bye bye birdies.

Forget about the whole assasin being portrayed as the most wicked-awesome, kick-even-the-rit's-butt, cool, better-than-everything-ever! They'll be balanced in the game anyway. This video's got me pumped for the storyline!
