There are currently two catagories of skills .... core skills and prophesy skills ... and there will be a third catagory of faction skills.
My question: will we be able to use prophesy skills in factions and vice versa, or will just the core skills be common to both areas?

If you own both campaigns, you can have access to everything, anytime.

My understainding is that the skill categories distinguish what skill can be used based on what "chapters" have been linked to the account. The skill categories do NOT designate what skills can be used in certain areas. Core skills are linked to any chapter.
For example, if I only buy Chapter 2 (factions) my account can only use core skills and factions skills. And I am limited to only playing in faction areas and the battle isles. If I then buy Chapter 1 (prophecies) and link it to my account (put in the appropriate key code in the manage key code screen), my account can now also use prophecies skills, irregardless of the area (Cantha, Tyria, Battle Isles, ect..) I'm playing in.
After reading my example.. I hope I haven't further confused you.

That makes sense. But it raises another question: why are some skills in both chapters so similiar? (don't remember offhand which skills, but there are a few) And, won't it create an imbalance between players with only one chapter versus players who have both?
Sorry, but the whole concept of chapter 2 just raises so many questions in my mind of how they are going to make it all come together. Perhaps I should take my usual "wait and see" attitude.
