Keeping Skills after Event

Hi all,

Just got a quick question.

If I start an Assassin in the preview event and unlock some skills through questing, I understand that when Factions goes live, our characters will be stripped of inventory and cash, but will the skills we've unlocked in the Preview Event stay?

Thanks.

I dont know whether those skills will remain unlocked on that character. In fact, I doubt they will. However, they will be unlocked for your PvP characters and available for purchase from skill trainers (if you have access to Factions).

it stated you would KEEP any skills unlocked not counting the 20 per profession given for testing.

level/items/weapons/armor/gold would all be rolled back to a starting level character.

EDIT

and here it is

Quote:
Item and skill unlocks earned by both your roleplaying and PvP characters during the FPE will remain on your account.
which leaves it undecided as to having it as a freeby.

since most are available as quests it leaves 3 choices

1 it will be there to use

2 you have it available to buy

3 you can quest for it free of a skill point

I understand that the skills will be unlocked for your account. However, ANet has not stated whether wiped characters will still have access to skills they gained during the preview. It wouldnt make sense anyway, a starting character in Cantha shouldnt have access to skills right at the beginning of the game.

possibly unlocked as in chapter 1 where you can purchase any unlocked skill for a point and gold if you dont want to wait for the end of game quest that gives it free.

that being able to buy early is a true double edged sword as those who buy a lot now and use up their skill points will have to work harder later.

i only buy unlocked skills available from vendors late in the game and never a quest skill i can get for free. (unless it is an end game i wanna have it now skill)

Related note: Think we'll have access to Elite skills in the Preview event?

But I can definitely unlock Elite skills by faction points and use them in PvP battles.

Thanks for the replies. But in regards to this quote, I am a bit perplexed why they stated Item unlocks would remain, as it clearly states in previous messages that the characters items/gold/lvls would be rolled back. Or maybe I'm reading it wrong.

Note: Since everything except skills would be rolled back, would it be prudent to spend all your gold before the event ends and buy as much skills as you can...kind of give yourself a head start

Item unlocks are for PvP only (staff heads, sword pummels, etc.).

Same idea with Rune unlocks, you can't keep the actual rune, but any you unlock will be available in PvP.

Yes.

Also, even if the Character is deleted (not sure of that yet), you should still be able to buy any skills you unlocked from a Skill Trainer, thanks to that recent patch.

But those Factions unlocks (Factions specific skills, Assassin Ritualist runes and dagger upgrades) won't be usable until Factions release.

SPECIAL NOTE EVERYBODY

even if you unlock something think hard before you buy out the store and use up your skill points as well as the gold.

why use a valuable skill point on a skill you can get free with a quest?.

you may want those skill point desperately later

Uh, are you talking about when the game officially starts?

'Cause there's NO point saving Skill Points on these characters.

I plan on making and deleting a few this weekend....

What I meant to say is, before the Preview event ends, if you have some cash and skill points spare, it would be a good idea to use it all on skills as it will only get reseted once the full game goes live...and you'll have a head start with skills.
