Base Defence is easily killed in 12v12

only a few hours old, and kurzick is already winning every alliance battle in sight. Amongst the various new inclusions to the pug pvp scene in the factions preview is the ominous base defence skill used by base defenders.

Base defenders seem to be nigh invincible, but guild Mustache Riders (mR) has proven they are mortal by killing them and sitting in the opposing faction's res point. Post your experiences about 12v12 here. Screenshots may follow if there is interest.

I haven't got on GW yet since I'm at school atm but could someone please tell me what base defence is a little better?

Base defense is a skill used by the Base Defender NPC. -999 straight damage (or insta death).

Once people get the hang of things, 12v12 could become a fairly popular pastime. I'm 3-1, immediately jumping on my resolve trapper after observing the environment. The dynamic makes me smile, nice balance holding and movement.

Base Defenders can be killed with a coordinated nuker attack - I know not because I have seen them die, but because my team recently had a nuker that got off several spells without getting hit by base defence. That same match, I bypassed the defenders and got into the enemy base : )

Death's Charge immedeatly followed by Dash will get you into their base without getting hit, provided you dont get body blocked.

My experiance with the 12v12 - Luxons constantly loose, people from both sides constantly drop out, very little to no corrdinated team effort from eather side.

Hopefuly these will change soon
Exept the first

well later today all the makeshift spike teams will roll into battle to finally be dominated by the people who get some good skills unlocked.

IMO this should be a fun preview of PVP without the constant spike vs iway vs eoe bombers vs Mf vs etc.

I just played a few rounds of this 12 vs 12 Alliance battle.
It strongly reminds me of Day of Defeat, I'm loving it!

But the quiters are annoying,
They should send in replacements for the quiters.

By the way, I saw Savio in there! He's in his red coloured 15k Glads Armor!

"R6+ XXX LFG NO RAGE QUITTERS"

first of all, some of the better teams ive seen in HoH have been under rank3 beating the crap out of 6+. we know higher numbers in a game = UB3R G0DLY but please, give the new people some time to adjust into the game

then, why even say that? do ya think people will really think to themselves "damn, i better not join because if i die ill just leave because im better than all those noobs" ?

I could as a noob-monk, keep the base defender easily alive really. What I dislike about 12v12 (or should I say 12vX (the losers left in my team)) is all the leavers. Really, I ended up with 1 other guy in there!

I say that as soon as people leave, they should be replaced by henchies.

That would solve a little bit of the problem. Just a little.

Please post your support for my proposal regarding rage quiters in this thread:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...d.php?t=142649

And in reply to someone who asked the question whether 12 vs 12 is like HoH:

No. It is completely different from HoH.
It is zone control, at the moment, for this beach map, there are 7 strategic points in the map.
Control a point, and you get bonuses, holding the points for a period of time will grant your team points.
Killing people, of course will give 1 point.
First team to score 500 points wins the battle.

Quote:
I propose the following changes:
- Allow single player to enter mission, these will act as replacements for the quiters who quit while the battle is still going on
- Allow teams of 4 to join in teams who has 4 or more quiters

Or, as proposed by DakAtak, fiery
- replace them with henchies

I wish to add on another proposal:

In the event that a player deserts the luxon vs kurschick battle, he will suffer a faction penalty(luxon or kurschick):
- 1,000 faction(luxon or kursick)

This 1,000 faction will be refunded if the following conditions are satisfied:
- he quits the battle, and logs out completely
- the total logged out time is at least an hour

This 1,000 faction will be gone for good if:
- the player quits the battle, and remains in game, without logging off

Negative factions(luxon or kusick) can be achieved, should this happen, the player is denied from participating in alliance battles, until faction(luxon or kusick) is positive again.

Look, its well damned normal for the luxons or kursicks to get pissed off if you desert their battles for no good damn reason.

Yea 12v12 is really good. It's really easy to win if you can convey some seblance of starting strategy to your teammates. We've managed to kill the base defenders before, but it was just because they glitched and started using their wands. Then we got in, and we could longbow the other one and that one when they ressed, it was fun. And I've never really found a problem with leavers, even though I've seen like half of the enemy leave. Of course I guess I'm lucky, once we got in a game with 2 other guild groups (mine was a guild group also), just some fun splitting going on.

This game is officially my new favorite thing about GW.

go to guild hall, talk to the guy that has the battles next to his name (forget exactly what)

Or go through some of the new/ch2 PvE, and in one of the outposts theres the same guy

This is Base Defense . You do not want to get hit by that.

I love the 12 vs 12 Alliance Battles. Played many of them yesterday, and I'm a PvE'er at heart.

Reminds me SOO much of UT2004's Onslaught, where you capture key parts of a map and theres recaptures and regroups and sneak attacks. Ooodles of fun.

Sounds like Base Defense is equal to a redeemer :P

Playing a cripshot ranger in 12v12 is probably the most fun I've had in ages; you can dart around the map, solo almost everything, capture points, camp casters (esp. minionmasters and rits without resolve...tsk), spam cripshot on targets and annoying warriors...fun times indeed.
I haven't been able to land Distracting Shot on Base Defense yet, so I don't know if it works or not. I presume though that it's the mechanism is the same as claim resource, in that the skill is probably unaffected.

Quote:

It does move, and so the map for 12v12 changes according to the line. I'm unsure as to when it moves; I presume it occurs after one faction wins x amount of battles on the current map. I've only seen two maps so far; that's probably all that's available in the FPE.

Another problem I've noticed with base defenders is that they tend to be lured WAY out of their base, and then just start slaughtering players not even remotely close to the rez spots.

Yes, 12v12 i'ts fun!. I like when they just rush in at the base defenders and die, The Base Defenders are easy to kill with a Minion Master.

Best thing is when you make a full guild group and play it organized, here is a screenshot

The alliance battles are very awsome...a way for anyone to be able to get into a massive battle, even by yourself.

So far I've played for the Luxons and I have been 3-1 with some preaty big wins...however I agree leavers can be a problem...

Still it is way to much fun not to care about...these Alliance battles is exactly what Guild Wars needed to get in the game...
