Possible solution for FPS bogging down (it worked for me)

It turns out the game has conflicts with a lot of surround sound set-ups.
After zoning once, the game will start running in software sound emulation mode until you exit. Slowly bogging down the FPS more and more.

If you've been having these kinds of problems, change your sound setting in windows to desktop stereo.
I went from starting at 60 FPS and going to 5-30 FPS, to a constant 30-60.
I went months with this problem before someone brought the sound issue up, it never once occured to me that it might have anything to do with it, but lo' and behold it worked.

This creates a new problem however. The game's sound doesn't work properly in stereo mode on my 5.1 system. A lot of sounds don't play or play too loud, so this is only a temporary solution it seems, but frankly, I'd rather be able to actually 'play' the game and miss out on a few sound effects.

It's worked for me and a lot of other people so far, so I'm hoping it continues to do so.

With this machine I was actually pulling 20-30 fps. I was completely pissed, like just friggin pissed. Now that this has come up. I run 60 fps constant. 1280x1024 4x AA. Ty for u man,

Yeah also, if i disable cinesurround in nVidia sound manager, i do not get any attack sounds. Frankly, I could care less
