This should be penalized.... agreed?

I think something should be in place where if you leave a mission prematurely, it either costs you in experience or faction... and penalties could be reversed by admins or something but still.....

yes - if you leave by maptravel you should be penalized. ive fought on the luxon side plenty of times and everytime ive ended up with just 2 or 3 ppl.

You still get some Faction for your side when you lose - you get faction equivalent to how many points your team has gotten. (Well, at least, when I lost with our side having 180 or so points, that's how many faction I got at the end.)

So you should warn everyone that they can still get points if they stay till the end, which might discourage some quitters.

na i agree completely with poster they should be penalized.. i mean:

y join if u have no intention of playing?
its up to 500 points so u cant tell how its going to go in the first 100?
y leave within 2 minutes?
if u cant take losing y play games?

its so annoying i was playin earlier and my first match people got killed a couple times then people started leaving like rats on a burning ship in the end it was 12 v 4 so the rest of us left cos theres jus no chance of winning

second game 2 people left but we still won.. pretty close game, we were down about 50 points and managed to get it back in the last couple mins

3rd game same as first..

these alliance battles seem to attract the worst kinds of players hopefully when factions has been out for a lil bit those kinds of players will stay away cos they always lose

If you have people on your team who leave; you're dealing with immature gamers who prolly would have lost you the match anyway. Being able to take a lose is a sign of maturity and good character, and I'm sorry to say, but in this game and MMO's in general, poor losers are all too common. You’ll notice that I did not mention ages. There are plenty of 40-year-olds who act as sophomoric as the most childish of high school freshmen with regards to competition. Maturity counts, not age.

Guildies FTW.

Er, because it's a preview and people are just popping in to have a look and then going on to something else?

It's only 30 minutes or so - they still show no respect or maturity in going in just to have a look and leaving to do something else. Lame excuse IMO. But then again, there are some lame people that play. I agree that they should be punished for these types of actions though.

i really doubt that, otherwise you would be able to join a couple of good games so far im up to 2 proper games (regardless of outcome) and 4 where they left.

gauranteed this same behavior is going to continue when the proper game comes out but hopefully it will be lessened because only lvl 20 can play so newer ones who arent used to the pace wont attempt to join, if they were penalized for it slightly they would prob stay til the end, maybe losing 1000 faction points would suffice..

and can anyone explain to me why luxon gets most of these people?? scares me to think i may have the same thought process as these people lol

The very first battle I played we were losing by almost 100 points and came back to win it once we got organized. Seeing that made me very happy, because I knew the matches weren't set up so that an early lead would guarantee victory for one faction. And yet, every battle after that, as soon as we took the lead, the other team would all rage quit.

I really think there's needs to be a penalty for leaving, either applied directly to players, or built into the faction system, to discourage that kind of behavior. Otherwise, nobody will EVER finish an alliance battle with 500 points -- it'll always end as soon as one team starts taking a lead that people on the other team don't think they can overcome, and there's nothing fun or epic about that. It's just lame, and not going to keep people interested in playing this format, despite it being a really fun new way to PVP.

EDIT: BTW, the original posted might want to change the topic of this thread to something that sounds less like a rant and more like a suggestion to Anet about how to fix this problem.
