They and all items on them will be destroyed and wiped, but any faction/skills/runes/upgrades you unlock will be stored and remembered should you happen to merge an account into your prophecies game at the official release time of the game. You will not get these items back, but will have been recorded as having had them and will have them unlocked in PvP. At least, that is my understanding from reading the FPE details on www.GuildWars.com

They'll do a reset to level 1. You character, with your name will remain, just like in BWEs. You just won't have anything on it.
