Okay.. my guild apparently has a town under its control. Is there anything I can do? (I thought I could launch fireworks or something.)

You can enslave all who enters, rob their gold, and kill at will... lol

Actually I think its just a service to your faction (kurzick or luxon) and you get merchandise discounts.

You have to pay allegiance to a Faction (in my case Kurzick) at some woman in the capital town, in this way you will be 'aligned' to them. I don't know if this can only be done after you have completed the quest 'befriend the kurzicks', I do know you can do it after you have completed it. Then you have to talk to a scribe in the same capital, which will increase your alliance standing by 10 for 5000 faction (don't know if it gets more expensive after each transaction, but I suppose so). Noting the alliance standing of the guilds/alliances that currently control a town (which is 200-300), this means you will need to get alot of faction (20*5000) by questing, and asking your fellow-guildies to donate their faction for sake of your alliance/guild. The guild/alliance with the highest alliance standing should get control of the town closest to the capital, if your guild/alliance gets a higher alliance standing then that guild/alliance, you will take over the control of that town.

However, most of this is just guessing from my part, because I'm in a small guild and only got as far as collecting 50 alliance standing atm. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
