Parts of the update that effect old PvE?

I was wondering how much of the update i can play with my old PvE characters, I am suprisingly not interested in playing any more of the new content as anything i do will be wiped on monday and Anet stupidly made us start at level 20. Which i am really annoyed about because now my three freinds that i invited are gonna think the game is crappy, as they wont have that sense of accomplishment that makes you want to play more when your levelling a character for the first time.

But anyway, the question.

I noticed i can play 12v12 with my existing PvE chars, is there anything else that i can do without making a new canthan character??

Being level 20 is far from being any sort of accomplishment.

i know, but do you remember when you first bought the game, and all you could think about was getting to the next level b4 your best mate. Thats what made me continue to play for hours on end, before i realised the joy of PvP. Now my friends playing the preview are not going to realise what the game is really about in this short weekend they have and so, will be left thinking that its rather boring.

I would be more worried about the fact that the whole thing seems a bit bland, in my opinion.
