Guild Database

If the Guild Database is the site's only method of "advertising" guilds, something should be done about the main page. Showing only the 10 newest guilds added is extemely unfair since more than 10 guilds have been added at a time (not sure how exactly this works, but I'm guessing either some never got on that list, or else they were on there for such a short time that it didn't matter).

You assume that people will only look at the first page and then decide on a guild? Sorry but personally I wouldn't want someone who didn't at last search through the database some to see what was around.

I don't assume that. I'm saying that those guilds will be seen by everybody going to that page, whereas not all of the others will. I agree with you, that people should search through the database, so there really is no reason for the "newest 10" list. Perhaps instead of that main page, there should be a combination of the top (with the browse option) and the search page.
