I mean come on.

I know a lot of skills will be nerfed. But I looked at some new ranger skills.

AOE cripple? holy crap. One or two snares would do the job of an entire cripple poison ranger non factions.

How the hell is this fair.

I remember them saying that the people who don't buy factions can still compete.

Yeah. Compete. If I don't buy factions I am seriously disadvantaged.

I seriously hope they nerf the hell out of the new skills.

Archer's signet. How maany attacks do you get with no energy? I think the max is 8.

8!

No one is using ranger's anymore in gvg. But they will be with the new ranger skills out.. in FACTIONS.

Leaving us non faction users at a major major disadvantage. No one wants a cripple poison ranger when they can have So and So new skill only available to factions users.

i hope they buff non factions skills considerably. Or create some.

Don't flame me I'm just letting some steam off.

Of course there's advantages for buying Factions. Did you honestly think that someone who spent fifty-seventy dollars and the requisite hours in Factions would gain no advantage over people who didn't?

What Anet said was that prophecies people would by no means be helpless against Prophecies-Factions users. Seriously, twenty-five new skills for each class and this post says you expected every single one to be absolutely worthless?

And truth be told, it's gonna be hard to keep up with the meta-game anyway. With a new release every six months (I still don't see how they're gonna deliever that one.) it's going to be really hard to keep up with the flow of the game. It'll get to the point where you will never be able to take all of your characters through the game (in PvE) and PvP will be changing so much that it will be impossible for casual players to keep current. They aren't necesarily nerfing existing tactics or builds. Anet said they would work at keeping things balanced. So it'll just be a matter of using existing skills to solve new problems (which appeals to this Engineering Major, as that is the premise of engineering!) I'm sure at some point I'll stop buying the new chapters...I'll even venture to say that factions will probally be the last. But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy what I have, and work on something new from something old.

This isn't the right rant. I'm pissed because I'm buying factions and I'm getting a hunk of skills that I already have. That's what's got MY stuff in a bunch.

So you have to buy it keep up with the handful of new skills, but buying it is almost useless because of the mirrored skills, unless you want to just fill your bar up with skills that mirror each other (ie. faction-only and prophecies-only interrupts)

And many of your skills are going to be new ones.

Plus I believe we will find that having two of the same skill will in itself will present interesting possiblities.

The fact that they are shooting for such a quick release for all follow ups, six months is insane I say more like eight to ten but we'll see how good their coders and testers are, means that nerfs won't really need to be made as often as you would think. the fact that the game and skill sets constantly change means that just because you don't have the new stuff you can't still compete. In fact it might give you a slight edge. Everyone likes to focus on better, faster and new. Give it time and people will forget about some of those hella useful Prophecies skills. The metagame is it's own nerf in and of itself. I mean sure expect some nerfs in the six month interim period but honestly I wouldn't look for too many.

Why get upset when they said, "You get 25 new skills per class in Factions!" Count up the total skills Factions is bringing for the old classes. The number is 30. What do you think those extra 5 they never mentioned are? Bingo. The duplicates.

ANet gave you want they said they would, plus a little extra. Stop crying over it.

Edit: Decided I should reply to the OP as well.

You do realize that Snare is nothing more than a dumbed-down Spike Trap? Since it's dumbed-down, it's not elite... and it's still a trap so it will never fill the same role as Crippling Shot. Also, look at Barbed Trap once. OMG! Prophecies rangers get AoE cripple and bleeding all in one skill! They're practically forcing us to get Prophecies!!!

...in other words. Don't get so worked up. Take a few deep breaths and look at how all the similar skills compare to it before you judge it.

As to Archer's Signet, it's a max of 7, it's Expertise based (which means that at such high expertise, your skills are practically free anyway, this boost is then relatively tiny), and when was the last time your ranger's limitation was energy?
