Hey guys I just noticed that nothing it linked to the critical assassin attribute for offhand items. To the best of my knowledge EVERY other class had some sort of offhand item they can use for their primary class attribute, except the assassin (i might be wrong, but i challenge you to find a three attribute build other than the assassin that can't have a good offhand).
I noticed this when trying to make a sword wielding assassin that used critical/swordsmanship/shadow arts. It's kind of disappointing to know that a candy shield or focus is my best option. Anyways, just thought I'd throw this out and hope for some good news or suggestions with my build. I don't want tactics -_- rather than shadow arts.

good point- why not have some sort of expertise offhand as well...

Because their main item (weapons for both Rangers and Assassins) are two-handed. Warriors can have a shield (strength req.), and all the other classes are spellcasters that can have caster off-hands based off of their attributes.

Rather than new attribute-based offhands, I'd like to see them make a non-Christmas version of the peppermint shield available from a collector and for PVP characters.
