The special item from the pre-order...
Virtuoso
I have a pre-order from both Best Buy and from EBGames. The reason being, my friend gave me his Best Buy pre-order a long time ago and he lost his receipt. I am not sure I am going to be able to redeem it as a) I don't have the receipt and b) I am not the person who actually bought it. My account is registered with the pre-order code from Best Buy, though. If I pick up my actual game from EBGames, am I going to get the item from Best Buy or from EBGames? Thank you for your help.

you will get whatever the box code says according to where the box was purchased
you enter the retail box code to get the bonus and the boxes are coded as to where purchased

Which reminds me, I need to go and upgrade my preorder from regular flavor to Collector's Edition.
I want that art book and soundtrack.

Amen! I just did that the other day

I typically don't buy Collectors Editions, even when it comes to games I've been waiting on for a while. I still haven't figured out why I have to have the GW Collectors Edition, but for some reason, I laid down the extra money for it without a second thought. I don't regret it, but I still can't help wondering why I did it. It's not the artbook (that's nothing new), or the headset (already have one) or the Divine Aura (didn't know about it until they posted the info on the main site). It can't be the soundtrack. The music's good, but not that good. Maybe I'm just sick.

I don't buy collector's editions, either. Ever.
But, since I'm a rabid fan of ANet, and because I wasted money on so many other games before, for me, it was more a question of "Why not?" I've finally come across a gaming company that I absolutely love, so I automatically have a soft-spot for buying their product. And of course.. it was shocking when I realized that I supported all the other uncaring, hateful companies so much more than I'm supporting ANet now. I can basically work a few more hours, so the cost isn't a big deal to me -- especially as I know that it's finally going to a company that I believe in.

Hmm... then I need to find out if I can redeem my friend's GW pre-order at Best Buy cause I'd rather have a shield than a bow.

I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade it. Anyone here have any experiance with doing it from CompUSA? Thanks in advance, if you do.

This has been discussed before, but you really shouldn't worry so much about the items that you'll be receiving from the Pre-Order boxes. Yes, they'll be a nice thing to have straight from starting at Level 1, but you'll quickly realize that the item will be obsolete as you progress through the game and find new rare and powerful weapons.

But you should worry about spending the extra money to get the CE version

No matter how cool the Collector's Edition sounds, I'm not forking over another $30 to $40 just so I can get an art book, a headset, and the Divine Aura. I love Guild Wars as much as the next man, but I have no driving need to have anything which will be rendered relatively useless once most people start hitting higher levels. I can live without a headset, and I don't see the attraction to the art book. Of course, I'm not much of an art person myself, so I can't say that nobody would want to look at that.

And I do wish the cloth map hadn't just been a rumor...

And yes, I could just buy another account, but I don't like having additional accounts that wouldn't be used since I have secondaries already.

My support will come later on once they start releasing the expansions, since I've already decided I'll be all over every single one, no matter what the cost then.

Alright. Well, thanks to you guys I think I got this figured out. I have been playing the BWE's with my pre-order from Best Buy, so it sounds like when I put in the retail key on that account I will get the targe, which is what I wanted. Then I'll go to EB and pre-order my collectors edition and I'll give my friend my other EB pre-order. So, I'd end up spenind a little more than I wanted, but that's ok. It's not like $10 is going to break the bank. Plus, more money for Arenanet! Thanks for your help, guys.
