There is no "best weapon" - there are just max dmg weapons that look different and have different abilities depending on your gaming style.

I made the following chart based on the chart provided here
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...ies-id1275.php

Item Low Dmg High Dmg Refire rate Avg Dmg Avg Dmg/Sec
Sword 15.0 22.0 1.3 18.5 13.9
Axe 6.0 28.0 1.3 17.0 12.8
Hammer 19.0 35.0 1.8 27.0 15.4
Bow 15.0 28.0 Varies 21.5 #VALUE!
Wand 11.0 22.0 1.8 16.5 9.4
Staff 11.0 22.0 1.8 16.5 9.4

What you want to look at is average damage and average damage per second. In my opinion the average damage per second is the most important, but the information varies for a bow. So excluding bow, in my opinion it is a toss between a sword and a hammer. Here is why, sword has bleeding DoTs and hammer can interupt. However sword allows you to carry a shield of some variety. So you have to ask yourself does the 1.5 more damage per second and the interupt abilities that the hammer provides make up for the armor and the DoT that the sword provides. PvE I say it does not, PvP I do not have enough experience to judge but I understand interupts are crucial.

Edit: ack sorry i cant seem to put this in a chart format in the forum, I am gimp like that.

Again, there is no best weapon. It's whatever suits your style. If you like fast slash action, swords. If you like fast multi-target pounding, it's axe. If you like beating the crap out of things with the highest damage possible, it's a hammer. Axes usually have more adrenaline-intensive skills, hammers as well but are slower attacks. Sword skills except for a couple usually use energy which a warrior has a very limited supply of, so are used sparingly but are made up for with attack speed.

Dust that was why i tried to post that chart above, to give you a feel for what the "best type" of weapon for a warrior. However, they are both right that this game is amazingly balanced for a MMOG, so its really about play style. But if it helps take the chart above and paste it into excel so that you can actually read it and I think you will find it helpful.

Dont forget that Axe's will crit for signifigantly more than swords. Crit is max damage times 2, or something like that. All this info is on the website somewhere.

If you are primary Warrior, my vote for best weapon would be the best axe you can get due to the Critical damage factor.

If you are Secondary Warrior, then my vote falls for the Hammer as it is max damage period, which compensates for the lack of armor.

I am (Brother Feng Darkon) MO/W and the Hammer (with Hammer Bash) is my real friend, because everyone wants to kill the healer first.

They better not get too close to this healer!

heh people in the game are saying Dragon swords suck just cuz they suck- but one thing- they function just like other swords, but looks cool at the same time. I'm thinking about going and looking for a fellblade and slapping a icy on it for hydras
supposedly it hurts things that doesn't get hurt by fire

fire does hurt most things in the game, it's just when you get to the desert you start hurting cuz the dam dealt by fiery things aint enough because of the resistances...

Sword - high attack speed low damage -> high adrenaline build up -> use adrenaline skills faster
Axe - balance in the middle
Hammer - High damage + knock down - slow attack - no shield

Jwh6913 - you forget one thing: in PvP MOST players care about fire spells and fire damage - or Ice for that matter. Few people bother to get a resistance to lightning and even fewer to get one to earth. My secret tip: though there is no conjure in the earth school I've decided to concentrate on earth damage and so far it works very well. You hardly ever find monsters with a restistance to this element. Of course it might be even wiser to use ligtning, but not fire or ice - that for sure.

yea Lim, but I were referring to things in pve- I find that I hit for 70 dam with a carrion devourer, and things than can be easily burnt , and 20 avg dam against stone elementals ( lvl 12 wa/mo twinked currently in Yak's bend) it stands to reason that mobs in the game has natural resistances against elements. makes you think.. for shiverpeaks to the Desert, fire would be awesome since undead are weak against holy and fire damage, plus the natural enviromental conditions. it would also make sense, in the desert, fire doesn't do well, but air and water does. Earth would have to be neutral for most places unless things use quake. Then I don't know for sure.

Crom: That's not right. Axes attack at the same rate as swords, and actually have a lower average damage on normal hits, although their top damage means that they hit for harder crits. Adrenaline will build up at mostly the same rate, and damage-wise they're about equal against mobs your level modulo skills, but sword skills tend to be more focused on doing damage, while axe skills are better at giving conditions.

I think a wand would be good on a warrior

Taion is pretty much right, I'll also add that Axes are good for multiple enemies around you while swords will have to focus on a single target before moving to the next. I think that is the reason for the slightly higher damage on swords than axes.

Keep multiple weapons on hand for different mobs.
Stone elementals can't bleed, so why try using sword skills. Switch to hammer and Bash, etc.
Don't forget the F1-F4 weapon sets.
