Not really of noteworthy discussion in the Arcane Repository, and only encountered on the final boss to the best of my knowledge, so I put it here, as it might also entail spoilers.
Now, during the battle which I've gone through twice so far, I have yet to figure out what the skill does. (Usually stuck focusing on the HP bars of my teammates
) I'd like to know, if anybody can tell me.
Also, I notice the skill description labels it as a 'spell', so is it subject to damage from backfire, interruption by spell interrupts, and disabling + taking for one's own through use of the mesmer skill, Arcane Theivery?
Unlike Spectral Agony, which is labeled as a skill, this one clearly says spell, which ought to be subject to theft then:

Mainly just idle curiousity, but anyone know the answers to the above?
