I think it would be a neat idea for GWguru members to get the x-fire chat program and put a mini profile in your sig... see below...

I feel it would be an excellent way to get to know people from this wonderful community in and out of guildwars

For those who dont know what x-fire is...
Its a chat client, that lets you chat in almost any game by a simple bind it'll bring up a chat window and you can talk to people online with out minimizing your game.
It also lets your friends on your buddy list see what game youre playing and what server your playing in, as well as let you join that game from the client itself (perfect for counterstrike)
And as an added bonus it lets you keep trake of how much you play

I just thought this would be a neat idea, and that way we can meet eachother outside the forums and in the game

some of yall seem very friendly (and mature) and would love to play with any of yall in any game

oh and no i do not work for xfire or am i affiliated with them in anyway, just sharing a product i enjoy, and its free incase any of yall were skeptical

It's also nice for games like counter strike or battlefield 1942 when you're trying to track down what server someone is on...

Oh yea tons of games, but games like guild wars and neverwinter nights already have a builtin friends list (though keeping a master list outside of all the games is really useful) It's really tough in games like 1942 where servers are full alot to coordinate even a half dozen people.

Xfire is great don't forget to sign the petition to try and get yahoo to back off suing them!

By-the-way:
The more people get Xfire, the better it would be for everyone.
You will get a nice gaming instant messager, spyware-free and no strings attached.
By downloading the program, you will give the company your support.
You see, Xfire is sued by Yahoo. The company is wrongfully accused of using parts from Yahoo Messenger. The real reason for Yahoo to sue Xfire is that they wish to integrate similar functions into their YIM service and Xfire stands in their way.

Heh, actually Xfire are being sued over infringing on a very vague patent filed by Yahoo. The patent states that Yahoo's service "allows users to use a game server in connection with a messenger server to permit 'buddies' to know when other 'buddies' are playing games online, and easily join such games". It's horribly vague, yes, but it's the same system Xfire uses. I don't know how far Yahoo are willing to take this (companies generally have to be fiercely protective of properties, you'll see all kinds of legal suits thrown about with no intent of followup, just to ensure their patents are safe), but unless the US Court has an inkling of common sense...

Bwaahahahaaaa!

...Xfire are going to lose. Lose to the tune of 1-2 million US Dollars.

to get it to say what games your playing and stuff
go to tools/seach for installed games

to paste in your singnature, go to your profile and click how to add miniprofile to sig

It does recognize guildwars as a game, but yeah, its not aware about time you played if it wasnt running. I have xfire set to run on startup on my pc, so all my gaming time gets logged. Its pretty cool... cept it makes me realize what an addict i am.
