Lightning Reflexes vs. Dodge

During the last event, I was debating between having Lightning Reflexes or Dodge as part of my build. I ended up going with L.R., but I was wondering if anybody would be able to provide a good case for using either one or the other.

As of now, I'm partial to L.R. mainly because I can do my Ignite Arrows>L.R. combo to cause a decent amount of damage to an clump of monsters and at a decent rate.

from my personal experiance, dodge is only good for a low level character if you wanna run away form a fight, or is also usful in the great wall quest, although you really dont need to run fast for that.

i use L.R. when i want to deal a large ammount of damage quickly, and to evade fire as well. i usually go with L.R

I do not believe a good case exists for running either Dodge or Lightning Reflexes.

Mine lasted for 8 seconds, and combined with a pumped up Ignite Arrows, it can do some decent damage.

hmm never thought of ingite arrow but well my ranger uses l.r. because it makes me speed up and if im getting circled by enememies it keeps me alive for a few more seconds for my allies to rescue me

Each works situationally, dodge is only for running away, as it will be cancelled if you use an attack or skill. Lightning reflexes is geared toward being used when you're stationary. (Expertise increases the use of both Dodge and Lightning Reflexes).

The problem with them is that they have a ridiculous recharge of 60 seconds. The only way to make them almost playable would to run Quickening Zehpyr. I'd suggest Serpent's Quickness but it's also a stance. If anything, forget the Dodge and Lightning Reflexes... Tiger's Fury is your friend.

Also, how often are being focus fired that you'd need to use these Damage Reducing stances?

Sure, maybe in PvE you could get away with Dodge or Lightning reflexes, but I dunno, in PvP, they are just too costly (in terms of time). Tiger's Fury is cheap and it recharges nice and quick.

I hear quite a few people favouring the use of Whirling Defense + Oath Shot lately. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of Oath Shot actually, in the very near future.

if u want to run fast as a ranger, id look at soemthing called storm chaser, it only has a recharge of 30 secs. it only gives u a speed boost so know icnreased attackin speed or arow evasion, but u can use it more. its like a ranger sprint(only 10 sec longer recharge then sprint).

I should have stated that earlier, but yeah, this is just for PvE, no PvP involved with that. I don't even have a PvP as of now, I'm going to finish one up before the next BWE though and test it out, along with totally revamping the pretty wussy build I have now (it's post four in this thread; http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=1387).

I've got some time tonight, so I'm going to cruise through the Skills Listing and see what I can come up with.

Edit: And yes, I would agree that the added damage/evasion you get with these skills vs. the recharge/effect time is not worth it at all.
