Trade Spam

Problem: : Trade is getting to be a non stop flow of red text. And when a trade is actually made and offers coming, i find it hard to keep track of everything going by so fast. Not to mention it drowns out other chat such as Guild chat, team chat, general chat etc.
Solution : Bulletin Boards. Not an auction house. Just a Board placed in "major towns" where people can post what they would normal send through chat, ie. "WTS: Fiery Dragon sword Max dmg pst"
That text would then be listed onto the board and sent through to other boards across the world. The posts would automaticly be sorted into Buying or Selling depending on a box u check off, as well as a category of item. The post would indicate your district and name, and would have a hot link to message that person.
Conclusion : Chat would be cleaned up, it would lessen the hassle of trying to sell your item to one district, when now you can broadcast it to the world. A greater sense of global economy can be gained with a simple look at the boards, less people would end up paying too much for sumthing. Also with both buyers and sellers posting. Sellers can search directly for that special person that would want their item.
Note : Your posts will only remain on the board as long as you remain in a non-combat zone (removes hassle of catchin people mid battle). Posts are removed upon logging out.

Agreed. Trade spam as well as casino spam is making the towns and cities a very unpleasant place to be. They are now like back alleys, full of imbeciles and scum.
Ironsword
lol i hate the trade spam most of it is all caps the only problem is that even now there's alot of people using the all chat tab to try and sell stuff it's extremely annoying but there's no way to stop them as a group if you're in the city and someone is spamming there needs to be a way of dealing with it like kicking them out of that district
shinseikaze
you can turn it off..........

That's why they should make trading like a store, you name your store, you put a price on the items then u just idle, just like the game RyL and also They should make storage that u could buy page maybe 10 plat then it opens another page for more storage like the game Ryl, I think a lot people would be happy if they seen a change

I love that idea .
I know you can uncheck trade box but when i'm looking for items to buy, its just impossible to read when you are in district 1 of lions arch and ascalon (where most trading takes place).

Good idea, but I do not really get why people make a huge deal about trade. I personally like it... when I see something I want. I buy it. If not I ignore it. I mean.. who actually goes to big cities to talk?

Of course its not like that in every district but if the district is not full its usually empty . Also when i started playing guild wars and just got out of pre searing i found it hard to talk to get parties because ascalon is spam central.

Anyhow, i think this would take less memory/time to make then an auction house, and have the reasonably same effect. I LOVE THIS IDEA!
Hopefully the workers at anet can sympathize how bad the tradings gotten... it's way too hard and time consuming to find that right item you want... I normaly try to spam(Yea, sry its the sad truth of trading) each district, and then, when i Finaly get a response(If i havent gambled my money away from boredom) ill have to ask them what dist, and what price/list my price... and after all that, it's only if we both agree to the price... A HUGE hastle.

The main reason i think the bulletin board would be better than an auction house is because trades are completed MUCH faster. and you can get ur item "now" rather than waiting 6-12 hours for the auction to end. Not only that but i love bartering, somthing you cant do with an auction, auctions are set prices and they can only go up. Plus they merely use gold as currency, ive done many trades where gold wasnt even in the picture. Trade with Iron, Steel, Parchment, other weapons.

auction houses are great too if you can set buy it now option too. this game needs a auction house or trading board badly not having one in place from begaining of game was surprise to me as a seasoned mmo player

Shall we put it to a petition see if we can spark up some NCsoft attention?

I support any alternative to the current spamming of items and services in trade chat. Particularly aggravating are the clowns from mmporgguys.com offering quick delivery of gold for $29.95. Surely this violates GW's rules. However, every two seconds they clog the trade channel for up to a half hour before switching to a different district. It is most exasperating if you are looking for something to buy from another player or have something to sell yourself. I don't feel I should have to turn off trade chat and potentially miss out on an item I want because of the abuse of a few folks.

The fact is that offline markets ( that is, game functionality that allows you to sell items when offline ) is a standard feature in all major mmorpg's now. It's standard because the players love it... LOVE IT..
I feel this game is the best on the market now, however it is 5 years behind in this area of development ( In game item selling/buying )..
This something they will definitely add. If not what the OP's suggesting, it will surely be very similar whether you go "idle" or can actually just post stuff to sell offline like in both eq & wow.

im a constant trader
and i have no problems with it
here is my solution
open your menu, then customize
drag your chat bot to just below your level bar
then turn off local and emotes channel
paste your ad in once a minute or two
when u get pms on these, turn off trade channel so u can keep track of who you are talking to
once you sell, just open trade again, and start pasting again
its not that hard
ive made almost 180,000g doing this
IGN Lord Dunc X
youll find me in L.A. and ASC d1 selling

original poster is right about the problem, but i disagree with his solution
best solution is either an auction house, or let the players set themselves up as merchants

lightblade
you can still turn that off, both normal chat AND trade chat

I read today that Effective Immediately Anet is banning people running Casinos and anyone who spams in the non trade channel... man I love this company
Quote = Guildwars Homepage
Due to the proliferation of casinos and their potential for player abuse, we will be blocking the accounts of those who advertise or operate casinos or other gambling schemes within the game, effective immediately. Players should be aware that casinos are a breach of the Rules of Conduct, as is the advertisement or promotion of cheats, hacks, of exploits. None of these things will be accepted within Guild Wars.

w00t. And yes, merchant stands would be cool. Even more so if they could only be built within an actualy Trade district.
