Problems with Team Speak
Agent Dark Bootie
i have been wanting to talk w/ my friend over the game for a while now and the only thing we could get working was paltalk with which you have to hold a button to speak and only one persn can talk at a time
i have heard that teamspeak is the way to go
so naturally i dled it
but so far its not working out
can someone perhaps go through all the steps of getting my friend and i in a private conversation over gw?
DETAILS would really be helpful

it is only for guilds and not for the public open areas

Do you have an Xbox?

Anyone can use Teamspeak, it doesn't have to be guilds. I bleieve on the TS website there are directions on how to setup your own TS server, just follow the instructions, and give the IP Address to your friend(s), get them to goto quick connect, enter the IP, and talk your heads off

but where would i find the ip?

You can goto IPChicken and find your IP address there, then you just give the IP plus the port number to your friends. An example would be 192.168.10.4:8767. Note that 8767 is the Port Number, and is always the same, not matter what computer you have the server on. If you are behind a router or firewall, you will need to Open/Forward port 8767 UDP.

Just wondering why you would say Teamspeak is for guilds only. Did you mean to say that the IP's that you have available for some guilds to use teamspeak on your server? Simply saying that "it is only for guilds and not for the public open areas" sounds as though your trying to say that ' You cant use Teamspeak unless your in a guild and have permission to use our servers.'
Anyone can use Teamspeak. Setting it up is not too difficult. Unless you have a router and have no idea how to use it or forward your ports. If you need help forwarding ports theres a great site: http://www.portforward.com that lists out Many routers and the steps on what to do to forward /trigger a port.
You may want to clarify your statement.

No what I meant was that you can use the Dashboard feature of Xbox live to talk.
As far as teamspeak I have never been able to get it to work right. Sorry I can't help you there.
And your network admin must have a block otherwise the xbox should work there. Anywhere their is a broadband connection that is.

i had to answer the phone and got wrapped up
what i saw earlier in an interview was that they (GW) did not intend to have mass general teamspeak in the public meeting areas where at present you see all the spam but only in instanced areas for the convenience of guild members to coordinate
i would assume any group could do the same without forming a guild as well
just not a general babble public channel where you download teamspeak and talk to anybody
