Purity! -Slipknot.

Is there any advantage at all to taking a PURE class? As, ONE class, nothing else. You have the option in PVP but I've never seen it used, are there certain bonuses associated with being a pure chracter?
DarrenJasper
Nope. That's why I avoid grouping with the people who are single classed in tombs... They're mostly noobs.
Ginko
I disagree, there is no loss with being pure build. Just because someone uses one doesn't really mean they're a newbie.
I have plenty of pure characters, and don't try calling me a newb.

Well, that answered, wouldn't it be wise for ANet to throw in some kind of bonus to single-classing? Like more attribute points or something? Its quite an interesting idea, as in the D&D days, the most interesting characters were usually the most flawed.
EDIT: But Gink, you loose all the potential benefits of having a second class, even if that's only one skill, that's still a benefit...

Monk is the only pure class that is acceptable i belive, If you have no intention of doing any damage, and you want the perfect triad of attributes. Pure monk is awesome.

I have a pure Monk pvp build. Works well for me.

I dont think its a bad thing. Take elementalist for example. If youre a typical say.. elementalist/mesmer youre pretty limited in elementalist or not getting your worth as a mesmer sub. As a pure ele you could still be versatile, having a fire wand, water wand, etc easily switching between them you could have powerful freeze water spells slowing down your enemy and follow up with some powerful fire taking advantage of the cold vs fire doing more damage than a fire ele domination mes could possibly. With those extra points into other magics you could easily become a more versatile, and deadly pure damage caster. Just an example, take it or leave it.

I have a Mo/N but she has ZERO Necro abilities! Its a pure waste of a class- I'm a pure Monk, but if I ever run across a good Necro ability it might be worth having, especially because of the Necro's life sacrifice spells- I can sacrifice and follow with a heal. Having a pure class only restricts you, while having two classes offers no restriction.

I am E/N at level 17, but I function as pure E since I don't use my necro skills and have put no points into them (I'll be changin to E/R soon)
The monk guy above said it best (in a roundabout way) if you specialize in one class you can pump all your points into those skills. Really all a secondary class is doing is giving you access to a wider array of skills.

Distributing attribute points too thin isn't too good an idea...
I mostly single-class (main char is pure monk), but sometimes it is effective to use dual classing options (like E/N). Energy storage for extra energy, aura of restoration, and then curses plus blood magic. Worked fairly good for awhile, but eventually I got bored with it

You can be a dual class and still play it single. Just don't put any att points into the other class and equip only main class skills. Voila, you're a single class.
