HELP! Brand new player having problems..

Hi there

I am playing the game, but the only MAP marker that is available to me is the one to the main city! I have to walk everywhere! I keep getting to new places, like "Green County" etc, but they all just show up as blue "whirlpools" on my MAP, but nothing I can actually click so I can quickly TRAVEL there like the city.. Each time my inventory fills up I gotta always walk all the way back to where I was! HELP!!! How do I activate the MAP MARKERS?!?!

Map Markers are only available at outposts and mission staging areas. You need to find those. Try taking a look at the interactive map available on this site to see where the outposts and mission staging areas are.

Ok, first of all, you don't need to walk back to town. Hit M to open your map, and quick travel yourself back to the main town.

Then, there's towns that these whirlpools take you to where you can use the quick travel. Tryin to remember back to my pre-sear days, but there's Ascalon City, Ashford Abbey, The Barradin Estate, a twon somewhere in Wizards Folly, and that's all I can remember off the top of my head.

Once you get to one of those, you can quick travel back there at any point.

Like Sarus said, you can only use the intant travel option to go to outposts and cities (theses are areas with other players in them). So when you explore, you will run across new outposts and cities and only then will they be on your big map (press M key), you can click on them from there and travel instantly to that location no matter where you are at.

It may be tough for you to find help in Pre-Searing Ascalon too. Since you only stay there for between 1 and 10% of the game most people have already moved on... but keep searching, you'll find other outposts.

To get new places to teleport to, they have to be cities. In-game, when you walk out of Ascalon (pre-searing), just follow the road signs. They helped me back then too

Here are a couple of tips for you... Trust me. You will not be frustrated like this for long.

Tip #1 - Get all the quests you possibly can... Very often, a quest will "Lead" you directly to another village. When you enter the village to complete the quest, you automaticly get the new map marker for that village.

Tip #2 - Right now you are in a section of the game called "Pre-Searing". Keep on completing quests in Pre-Searing and eventually, you will get to "Post-Searing" (You will know when this happens)

When you get to Post-Searing, you may be frustrated all over, cuz when you open your map, all your markers from Pre-Searing are gone. DONT PANIC...

You start in Ascalon City. Head for "The Great Northern Wall" and complete the "Co-Operative Mission" there... This will take you to the next location. Complete the mission there and you will head to the third location... ETC ETC... Each new village has it's own merchants, quest NPC's, and sometimes Armor Crafters...

The map can be VERY discouraging at first. There is so much land, and you know none of it... Post Searing can also be dificult to navigate. But follow those primary missions and advance the story and you will NEVER run out of stuff to do.
