I have my own guild. There is only one member: me. I haven't yet gone out recruiting, but I soon will be. Before I do recruit, I will most likely modify my cape for the 2k gold (people like joining guilds with cool capes, rather than drury ones).
I have a question to all those who know or have a successful guild: How do you go about recruiting?
By that, I mean, do you just recruit anyone who appears to have a good build and some interest? Do you get to know the guy? Do you care about the person? Do you know the person? Do you recruit the person on the grounds they play a certain class, or have that character already made?
How do you go about creating a successful team; a compitent team. Does it really take time?
I'm seeing many guilds thriving in the pro dueling arenas, and it seems like they have assembled themselves quite effeciently and in good time.
Possibly someone who has a good guild could suggest to me how to make my guild do well.
Guilds: How to recruit? who to recruit? and what to do?

It depends on what sort of guild you are wanting to make. If it is PvP then I cannot help you much, if it is PvE, you can look up our guild in the Guild Listing on the main page and see what all we sort of require.
We take almost anyone who asks, but we like to get age, professions, whythey want to join and then, to top it off, we put them on a probationary period where we see if they'll fit in with our other members.
We pretty much go about our own things and when anyone needs help in the guild we'll ask, or they will, and we'll either be able to help or not due to situations.
Sorry if this wasn't too extremely helpful if you're putting together a PvP guild. A good place to start would be to figure out a good description of your guild and perhaps put it into the guild listing as many of us have done.

My guild was formed quite a bit before I started playing GW. If I'm not mistaken, the leader already had a couple friends before starting the guild. Soon it was "I have a friend that started playing, can he/she join?" and it picked up from there. Our guild is more community based, however, I believe that regardless of what kind of guild it is, you should be able to get along with anyone that comes in.

we seem to have the opinion that if we get through suchandsuch mission, fine, cool, if we don't, fine, we'll try again
we will recruit anybody who has a similar outlook on the game, that this is all for fun and nothing else, it isn't real life or death stuff if we don't find that perfect weapon, it isn't a reason to quit playing if we win pvp and the celestial sigil doesn't drop specifically for us
i usually try recruiting by shouting 'very relaxed guild looking for people who want a laugh', sure, there are the far too serious players who don't care about stuff like enjoying, and just care about winning, but theres plenty of people who shout 'LFG - no n00bs' with spaces in their guilds for them
in the long run, a guild who are out to just have fun is much better, as people will not just leave if they don't like the fact that they aren't an officer after a day
personally, i feel that this is the best type of guild, and, although recruiting people, stating that you just want a laugh may not get the offers flooding in as fast as you want them (there is no guarunteed way to get people to join your guild) i've found that this way gets people joining steadily, and the people who join are happier, and more willing to stay with a guild
okay, so i admit, theres some rambling going off in this post
