However, one of the uber things that alot of people have issues with is things in the enviroment, and things in towns.
For towns, well theres not much to be done other than switch districts to something less populated, but there are tweaks they can implement;
In-Town tweaks
- Have a toggleable option for showing or not showing Guild Capes.
I think this will save some resources Client side, all the calculations of cape colors, and their movement when the player moves, has to add up on the Client, especially in towns.
- Have a toggleable option for "buildings" to show or not show
Think of post-searing Ascalon. Now imagine the increase when you take out capes (a toggle option) and say; all the little "huts" the NPC's stand around. That's less poly's to be drawn, less models to be drawn, just less resources used.
- A toggleable option for scaled charcter model/texture quality based apon distance
Say yer 100 feet away from someone, in post-searing Ascalon. They look kinda stick figureish. The closer you get, the more detailed the become. This could be a scaleable option based apon the users preference, similar to "draw distances" (more on this later)
Out of Town (instances) tweaks (note these are probably most important)
- First and foremost, add a "fog" or "draw distance" option thats toggleable via the menu. While I love the eye candy in the game, seeing for 10 miles can cripple some machines. I can live with 1/3, hell 1/5th, of the draw distance, and in my case I know it'd triple my frames. Now imagine people with better systems, even more performance. Hardcore PvPers will want ever last ounce of juice they can squeeze to help them fight

- Second most important is enviroment effects needing a toggleable option.
Snow, looks awesome, especially with the creaking trees and wolf howling sounds. But its a resource hog. Same with the "glimmering" lava rocks in the volcano areas. Same with the oceans in the Kryta area. You need an option to disable these, especially in towns (beacons perch comes to mind...100 people or more + snow = slideshow for some people)
- A toggleable option for scaled charcter model/texture quality based apon distance
Same as in towns, but for the instances outdoors.
Overall tweaks
- In-game gamma tweak
Like most games, an ingame gamma tweak specific just to GW (no, not setting the gamma on my desktop, some people may wany GW's gamma at one setting and their desktop at something else)
- Selection of various fonts
More of a nitpick, some may agree. I'd like to change to some other fonts

Some of these I think we DO need (enviroment effects toggleable, and a scaleable draw distance). It'd increase performance for some people ten fold.
