Looking for hacks bots cheats etc.?

THERE ARE NONE. There is no such thing as a bot, autoer, item duplicator, or any such cheat in guild wars. Going to these sites may give you a keylogger or some other virus which may be UNDETECTABLE by most virus scanning software.

Heres some tips on how to avoid getting your account stolen.

Dont share your account even with your best friend
Dont look for cheats bots hacks etc.
Dont download anything about guildwars unless its from www.guildwars.com (many fansites may contain key loggers or other viruses)
Check your computer for viruses atleast every 2 weeks
Change your password every month
Dont share any personal info

Hackers look for people who are like this. That they dont want to play the game the way it should be or they want revenge on someone so they look up 'how to hack someone' then they get a keylogger or virus. Many online games have hackers like these. So dont fall for some lame scams.

Alot of this is good common sense, and I do believe Guild Wars gives a nice warning right next to the login box on the main screen when you start it up. Which is a very good thing, suprised to see that the other day actually.

Updated virus protection software is pretty good, but nothing is perfect. I have mine updated and I have two types of firewalls going along with popup blockers. Yet, still a few things get through, but I clear them out with whatever tools I have.

Best tip I can offer: Don't trust anyone even remotely advertising any type of hack or exploit, because most likely its just going to be fake and/or be harmful to your computer.

Once agian, common sense, but always good to be reminded... ...

That's nice that you brought that to people's attention, but you can write a macro script for just about any game with certain programs. Soooo yes they are out there.

Firewalls are not necessarily that hot at picking up trojans buried in websites. Even with a full Secure Proxy you need to be very careful as to what you allow onto your machine. They may be great for detecting when a trojan tries to "phone home" but that can be too late if its a nasty one designed to do damage.
Just be careful and don't fall into the trap of "I've got a firewall, I'll be fine".

I don't have a firewall or a virus scanner. Every now and then I go and scan for any rogue virus out there on this machine at housecall.trendmicro.com and don't find anything. I guess it all comes down to how you use the system. Or it could be that I run Windows Server 2003: Enterprise Edition...

I personally don't see anything wrong with certain "autoer" programs. As long as you have to set it up to exactly what you want it to do, then how is different than key bindings? As long as it doesn't just fight for you then what is wrong with getting rid of a few clicks?

As far as the viruses, yes you will be exposing yourself if you don't get it from an approved website.

Using that OS is not a magic ward against viruses or hacks. Server 2003 comes with a firewall. If you keep it properly configured, regularly update the OS through windows updates and don't use an email program (especially not Outlook/Outlook Express) then you stand a decent chance.

However, there will be a day when something gets you - MS don't update their security holes fast enough for you to rely on windows updates to protect you from harm.

What on earth are you doing with Enterprise Edition anyway? Have you got enough processors to need it? (In which case, you can surely afford some decent AV software).

I disabled the firewall on it aswell. I do regularly update and read what each update does and I'm damned if I'd use Outlook, it's Thunderbird and Firefox for me. It comes standard with every website blocked in IE.

Yes, true that. But most viruses and the like are usually spread via user stupidity. I have gotten viruses on my machine before, but I knew the program was infected beforehand and ran a virus scanner to get rid of the infection as soon as I installed it so I could keep the program. I run Spybot in the background which keeps me in the know when things are installed and regularly run Adaware and Spybot as the line between trojans and spyware is quite blurred once you get down to it.

Well I used to run 2k but once I got my new HDD, I had to reinstall anyway (the old one was going in my girlfriend's comp). I also had 2003 already but didn't install because 2k was working fine. Since I've installed it, I haven't had any problems (aside from the random mishaps which were my fault entirely. Almost lost 50+gigs worth of stuff.).

I use 2003 for the stability, not for it's server functions. It's why I converted it to run as a workstation, plus it gives me some experience in new things aswell. Albiet if I wanted something worth while, I should get the alpha up and running and play around with Tru64.

Can't see why you'd pay for the Enterprise Edition license (key advantages 8 way SMP and 8 way server clustering) when you're running on a desktop.. but hey. You never said you did

Spyware/trojans/viruses/worms = malware. Malware sucks

What sucks even more is the stupid distinctions that AV companies like to maintain so they sell you separate products. Its enough to make you want to use linux. Oh.. I do apart from gaming

From what i've heard from alpha players, they have been encouraged to build bots/cheats for the game... and while most end in failure, there Are bots for this game, the bots from what i have heard, are made for farming, and for pvp... The thing is... if they let these secrets out, they'll be banned, and anet will be able to run further tests, cause then they'd know what they're looking for.

All of my information has been read from this forum, if you do a search you might be able to find it (as i couldnt), but i heard gaile speak about it, sounding a little "worried", but yea, most people cheating have been detected, banned, and cant play again... not to mention scammers, heh... i love how serious anet is about this stuff... but, it's still never completely full proof, as people will sooner or later make such things as key generators, and have multiple accounts, so they can take the chances of being banned a few times... but the thing is, if they're figured out twice, and they know it's the same person, they can ban the i.p., which will halt everything they try to do.

I actually feel quite well about this system they have going on, and i think it's more on the fact that it's a reliable company, then the fact that other games are easier to cheat on (mmorpgs).

Yes, we were encouraged. I didn't hear about any working farming bot (since they took out the shortcut key to pick up loot).
And a bot for PvP? Using a henchman or really player is always better, since the team sizes are limited. In a gank fest MMO such a bot could be viable, but not in GW.

It's actually both. They are strongly against any sort of cheating, and will do everything as fast as possible to fix issues. But it's also the intelligent client/server architecture design that prevents many hacks.

I would add:

This is not a difficult game. It is not an item centric game. Getting to level 20 doesn't take very much time. Getting gold doesn't take very much time. Getting items doesn't take much time. If you feel you need to cheat in a game like this, you need to seriously consider that you are such a poor gamer that no cheat could possibly ever compensate for that.

Not only that, ANet can check the IP of those who used the account while it was stolen and match it to IP's of all other accounts and ban them-- maybe even resort to more drastic measures and involve authorities. I heard account theft is being taken very seriously these days.
