Mild spoiler ahead I guess.
On the road between Yak's Bend and Borlis Pass was a side quest given by a female ranger (who more often than not was killed before you could get to her) who would give you the task of hunting down this giant brute of a boss. I think his name was Thorgrim and he used to be a 28th level beastmaster.
Well he's been weakened considerably. He's now a mere 14th level boss.
This saddens me.
THE Beastmaster has been nerfed?

second that. he was actually a challenge.....
Pixie
Yeah, I took him with a friend when he was still 28. Quite fun to kill him. Unfortunately they nerfed him, indeed. ;_;
Qin Shi Huang
Bah, they removed all the fun from that one =/.
Cheers.

Man, he wasn't even tough for a ranger packing the right skills. Nail his healing with distracting shot and it was easy. They nerfed that? This is getting bad - all the missions are getting way too namby-pamby.

That quest was by far harder than any of the other profession quests in the same area (other than the monk's before they "fixed" it so mhelno wasn't camped by lvl 20 mobs, 3 healers, and 5+ random other mobs).
I had to go back to town as my ranger after fighting him for 5 minutes because I didn't know to bring distracting shot. Without that skill, it was a fight I had no hope of winning (though, he wasn't going to kill me, either). And *that* was stupid.

There is the key--not knowing what skills to take. Once you know what skills to use it is easy. This quest was one of the first that actually made me think outside my basic skillset. It should have been left alone. Think of the accomplishment from defeating a Lv28 mob clear back in Yak's Bend vs. clearing a wimpy little Lv14 mob now.
I think this mission demonstrated what distinguishes Guild Wars from all the other games--skill. In order to beat that mission before, you had to do some thinking, perhaps a little strategizing (or at least some reading on the forums...). There is a pretty good chance that you couldn't have beaten that boss with your regular skillset, at the level you probably are when you arrived in Yak's Bend, with your normal complement of skills.
Too bad Guild Wars had to break from its distinguishing feature on this one.

haha yea i got my lvl 20 friend to help me take him out- he was crazy! lvl 28 with some beastmaster buddies he kept useing healing signet so neither my friend nor he died. eventually my friend rezzed us and we killed him- quite the experience
