1) Why do so many people want dye even though it doesn't have an use except simply coloring your clothing or weapons? Or is there something else to it?
2) Can you only get a celestial sigil in the Hall of Heroes if you aren't playing with a PvP only character, or do you have to get there with an RP character first?
Two Questions: Dye and HoH

In my opinion the dye craze is fueled by:
1) People who really do use it to color their armor. How else can you distiguish your armor from everyone else's identical look unless it is dyed orange (or red, blue, whatever)
2) People who feel they can make some quick cash buying low/selling high.

Also one player said so in Daoc "Looking cool is half way towards being cool."

But now, customization due to annoyance is why I want dye. I have become quite annoyed by other players (who I assume are newbies or very young) wanting to talk to me because they look exactly like I do. Then they want to team-up so we can be some kind of twin duo. Initially, it wasn't a big deal... but after 5 or so times, I got tired of it. I bought the game to play, not to have social hour. Making virtual friends is occassionally a nice feature when it involves actually playing the game. Besides, chit-chatting can be done for free through any IM service... and not interfere with others who want to play the game.
This happened mostly in pre-sear, so it hasn't happened lately. But the die (pun intended) has been cast, and I am now on my own mission to creatively change my appearance.
However, I believe the dye market hampers character development and refuse to use the dye traders.

For me now, dye has just become a source of free money I guess. Nobody has said anything about my generic look... Once I get to 20 and don't have any other use for my money, maybe then I'll look into the dye market.
