Guild Halls need Upgrading

i seriously hope a net reads this....

I have not experienced this level restriction myself, my level 3 rng (rushed) hit old ascalon and had the fur set with no problems. So far as i can tell there is no lev req. but if i could give my little rng the end game armor it would make my 2nd trip up much easier, i'm sure however there will be those players and guilds that would expliot this to its fullest. Also if a lower level were to get say the draknors forge armor then they would clearly have an advantage grouping .. picture this at the defending the wall mission
"noob" lv 7 e/mo lfg mission + bonus
"experienced player no guild hall" lv 8 e/mo lfg mission + Bonus i know the bonus
"noob in power guild with fully upgraded guild hall" lv 6 e/mo lfg mission + Bonus i have end game armor and mobs here barely hurt me, i also have end game skills and full set of runes.
Who would most PUG's choose??

I really couldnt care less about having crafters in the guild hall. They arent that important to me. But an Xanlai [sp] storage is an absolute necessity. The merchants would be nothing more than a nice luxury, but the storage is definately needed. I figured the guild hall would have been like my guilds own little town with merchants and guild only quests available. After I got it, I almost didnt want it anymore. It was such a disappointment. Hell, the flags posted around the whole thing arent even the guild cape!
Is there anyone around here that can create a petition for some of these ideas? Im not sure exactly how to do it.
Out of all of the ideas that come and go in this forum, this is one that I know that EVERYONE can agree on... the guild halls are pathetic.

It'd be pimp if you could expand your guild hall with crafting items (i.e. wood planks, ingots, etc.) and make the building larger. It would also be nice to be able to furnish your guild hall and have mini-games inside, like chess or whatever. And you should be able to order up a few ales every once in a while .

the abaility to expand ur guild halls, but make it quite hard to do would be great, something else to aim for one you have finished the game!
and a ingame skills listing with all the skills that guild members could add to along with all the classes that your guild mates are would be good

A lot of good ideas! The gold sinks to buy merchants, storage, armorer, weapons, etc...., the customization of the structures, and so forth.
I would also like to be able to landscape the islands to prepare them in case your island is used for a battle!
I would love to assult an enemy island to take it over (temp of course), and defend mine as well!
In hall match-ups(sparring) sound great!
Lots of other great ideas!

I love all the ideas but having a storage and merchant plus things u and ur guild members can do together in there are the most important ones. On Storage the i like the idea that Trueloki gave but they have there own storage accounts why let the flood the guild one. I think the members could put there nices items in for storage for other ppl in the guild or for competions or allow them to make donations in it. But not be able to take it out. I think only The Leader or Officers should be able to get them out. That way no flooding of the storage cause the members should already have there own so they dont need it. The Leader could be the only one to take out the gold in big chucks that way no fow play. But the officers could take money out for the in guild hall missions if anything happens. And we need merchs in there too ;p
I have to get back to work i will say more later when i post again.

There should be a petition like this made sticky. This is the aspect of the game that needs most attention. Agreed with everything, nice comments made, i aslo liked what snowman said. There is not an atmosphere of wow, look at that guild, rather a HUGE mass of little guilds running around.

I think this post is phenominal. But the one thing that everyone should remember is that when you start making things that cost 75k or you start adding missions for guilds only that are 5k you are building the GUILD WARS EXPERIENCE for the rich guilds.
We have to remember that when Area Net makes a change to the game the change should suit as many people as possible not just those people who have large amounts of cash at their disposal. My guild is working towards a guild hall and I tell you now. There is no way we could afford the 5k missions or the 75k Merchants.

I kinda agree with that but it gives ur guild all the more reason to work together to get the money i dropped all my games saving on ours and still spent a week with my guild trying to get the money and finally after that we could afford. But it is true lil guild like mine coulldnt afford a 75k merch and storage i think those should come with it. Its the basics that they forgot to put in which other games have. They really need to do something.

Warning, this post is entirely non-sarcastic.
Sim Guild. It's what all the Guild upgrade ideas amount to, and I love it.
So, how might these things become attached to a Guild Hall?
Yes, it's starting to sound like Sim Guild, as I said, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. It's a lot of work, so it'd probably need to be an expansion. If those without the expansion couldn't see or access any of the Guild Hall's features, it'd be a reason for 'em to buy it, and if they couldn't contribute to, say, the Vault, it'd be a reason for the Guild to persuade all their members to buy it. Viral marketing.
Sim Guild. It's what all the Guild upgrade ideas amount to, and I love it.
- Furniture
- decor: plaster, paint, wallpaper, lighting, statues, the list is endless.
- personal rooms for characters. You could combine these with storage and have just a few slots, perhaps for specific things, like weapon slots (a weapon rack) and armour slots (enough for 4-5 full suits). Each of the extra slots could be a separate addon.
- Trophies from Guilds defeated and honours from HoH etc.
- Collections of special things: Quest Items you kept as souveniers, irrelevant stuff from Collectors that you picked up just cos
- A storage room for each player as well as the Guild vault; I like the ideas about access levels. Open to abuse? Not really more so than a Guild's collective storage anyway. A well organised Guild, even just a small one, can probably source its newly-post-Searing characters whatever armour they want anyway. I've only got two characters so far, and the storage limits are already tight. I can't see a time when I'll be able to have a complete selection of armour and weapon variants for four characters, simply because of the storage slot limits. Not and have enough empty slots that loot can still be collected.
- A bar addon
- The ability to have different ambient music in the Hall - minstrels
- Different henchmen, using different templates from the PvP selection... tricky to write the AI, I guess.
- All the different arena ideas are good, but add ...vs henchies for the giggle (and to practise things like timing).
- Adding different GvG terrains to the Hall
- The merchant and the Xunlai agent are easy, but the other traders whose stock depends on the market might be problemmatical/pointless in a Hall, unless they track supply and demand across a whole 'nation' (Eur, Amer, Kor) anyway.
- The idea about the statues which let you into the Favour areas is really good.
- Pet kennels are a fine idea
- A menagerie of beasts (or Mobs in general) which can be used to populate an arena for either practice or as spice for a GvG battle.
- A visible indicator of the Guild's rank etc. on the wall somewhere.
So, how might these things become attached to a Guild Hall?
- Obviously, some of them might need to be unlocked, either for the Guild or for an individual member. You might have to complete a Guild Quest solo before you have the right to add your character's room, perhaps.
- Some would just require the expenditure of resources: 250 shell, 250 scales, various dyes and 20k for a mosaic, perhaps. 10 planks of wood and 20G for a bench
- Others would need an one-time unlock only: Banners of defeated Guilds on the wall, say.
- Some would need an expenditure of resource after an unlock: stone slabs and/or planks of wood for the character's room perhaps.
- Or there could be a mission which can be done repeatedly to add major items.
- Some could just require a mission: Xunlai agent would be one such, as might the statues for entry to the Favour areas.
- They could be prizes in the PvP game, either as an unlock or as the actual thing, installed.
- They could require a certain Guld Rank before they can be acquired: Xunlai Agents don't work for just anyone you know.
- They could require maintenance, either in Gold or activity: why would a Trader stay in a Hall where they weren't making any money? The beasts in the menagerie need feeding and their keeper paying, or they die off.

hmm, i liek them all, spacially the decorat your guild hall ^^
though, i would like to be able to buy a hall while not having a cape (though, by the time i *can* afford it, they probably will have sorted that out ^^ lol)
if done properly, the guild store should allow anyone in the guild to add items and cash, but only alow the leade and perhaps 2 other officers to take out.
the guild stash should then encourage Guild Hunts (where a large group of guild memebers go hunting, naturally. however, any items other than purple and orange ect, and all cash should be classed as the Guilds, and then handed over afterwards, to pay for the upkeeps of the hall and the guild...)
if yer worried about the guild beiing to easy to have/keep, you could always get them to add a stipulation to owning a guild, that at all times, 20k needs to be in the guild storage, otherwise, your given a real time month to put enought back to keep the hall. if you fail, you loose access to the hall tempry, but the leader can pay a 1k fine, get into the hall and fill up the cash needed.
ooh, i almost forgot...PRACTICE DUMMIES ^^
i want practice dummies out in the grounds. the wooden stick things for monks, dummy shapes for fighter/mages, skeleton shapes for necros and archery targets for rangers. if you mouse over them and click, your char goes and stands next to it and ou choose 'Practice', and can then beat the livving frell outa the dumy! ^^ not for gain, nor for cash, but becasue you want to practice (also good if you need to waste time befor a guild fight. you can get the newbies to line up and practice, then tell them info while you do it ^^)

Yes, now that the pvp part upgrades have been taken care of. NOW get some more guild and guildhall features in here. They were on the drawing board a few weeks ago they said. So now let them in the game. ^^

My ideas:
I like the idea of buying Merchants and other npc into your hall
It would be great If you were able to buy Skill trainers which has all the skills you learnt (you as being a leader or maybe a officer).
So noobie members can have a taste of better skills.
Able to buy furniture or decoration to decorate hall. And furniture being able to be interactive, like chairs that can be sat on...
Have a Dwarven ale vending machine.
Creating customised Henches. Basically paying a single price for a hench build, (mage, fighter, archer... etc) Then pay small prices to put in skills you or a skill member learnt, then make a name (and maybe the look)
Guild storage(basically another character shared storage) commonly posted...
Building special weapons at hall which are used by teammates like catapult, stationary and normally at towers, like a MG42 :P
Stable to store pets so you can change pets without the need of always getting new ones. And maybe store mounts if its in future expansions.
accesing team arenas from guild hall
have some Armour UNIQUELY FOR A GUILD, like the cape.
minigames chess, checkers...etc
1v1 arena for practice, no faction gain in case of a friend letting a friend kill him a billion times. Basically farming faction.
Paint pictures and put on guild or maybe have a photo taken as a group

It might have been suggested already but I didn't see it:
1a. intraguild battles: Friendly battles between fellow guild members....used to help train newbies and also hone strategies.
1b. Prize fighting in the guild. 1v1 or what have you. Just a way to make a gentlemenly wager over a little competition.
2. Training Ground: I know the devs hate the farming and grinding that is going on....well how about to help prevent people from doing this give and incentive at the guild hall. A grounds to take your character and grind there for EXP. Make the EXP Gain slightly less then normal or prevent drops. Either way would be a nice method of getting people to use the guild hall.

I just started playing. And this is the first MMORG. And the first thing i noticed was that guild halls were pretty useless. I read this thread and I say there should be:
unlimited storage. But make it so that everyone has individual storage so players can store random things and a guild storage controled by the leader so that there isnt stealing.
A guild store where the leader controls prices as a way to aquire funds which leads to my next point
A guild treasury. One that people can put money into to fund guild based expenses like recruiting people.
Then have things that the guild can buy like NPCs but make them very expensive. I think this would make guilds become closer togather.
A place to go 1v1 or whatever.
Something that benefits different classes like a pen to put pets for rangers.
Have random fun pass times that guilds can engage in like a lounge with a jukebox that has music you have to buy and mini games like chess.
Have cool meeting areas to have guild meetings that are better then a clearing that allow guild votes, surveys, so on and so forth.
Same thing about the voting but in formal so that people can do it when they have free time
A trophy rack to store guild trophys that would be won by reaching a goal. Plus there should be different ranks of these awards like bronze, silver, and gold or something more creative.
I dont think guild battles should limit the amount of people fighting. Cuase a war is not and hand full of people against another handfull.
I hope these ideas help. and remeber any upgrades to the hall should be expensive.

i know how to add these features without them affecting guild battles!
make a separate corridor leading into a room, or fenced off place. you could place your bought npcs, guild fights, petting zoo, you name it in there!

OK my own critiscm is that there is no WAR in guild wars. Nothing gains and nothing lost. I suggest that you should pay a tribute to the guild that defeats yours. Some where around 60k.
If your guild can’t pay the tribute, you lose your hall, and sigil is RETURED to the sigil trader to keep the sigil prices down.
Your guild has a guild storage and bank.
The storage is a personal storage, and nothing different about it. It’s just in your Guild Hall.
The bank is for Guild Hall maintenance and tributes.
Your guild has to pay rent for the Guild Hall.
Your able to rent NPC Merc Henchmen to fill in the spots or defend it themselves if your members aren’t on at the time of the attack.
You can build the mercs how you want them skills attributes and professions.
You can challenge any guild with in 50 ladder rankings from your guild.
Any guild over rank 1000 can challenge each other.
When your guild is challenged you have 10 minutes to get your guild members and team together before the match begins.
You can only issue 5 non-accepted challenges per day and only 3 of those can be to the same guild.
Once you purchase a Guild Hall and lose it your guild is disbanded
If you click on a player in a town it should have a pop up saying profession, guild, and level.
Also your cape should be as you designed it, and not shaded red or blue in GvG
I think this will bring WAR to Guild Wars. Décor weaponsmiths, armor crafters, dye traders, and rune traders are pointless. Storage should be as is. Why would you want to have 200 sup vigor runes, or 500 absorb runes. If you want a monopoly play Sims or WoW as allies.

A.Net seriously needs to read this topic....
I split cost with a fellow Guildie for our hall.... man, were we ever disapointed. I only ever have like 1-5 people online at the same time ever. That's 25k each out the window....

I like the ideas, but you all must beware when you blur the line between PvE and PvP-ensure than PvP stays as balanced and fair as possible.
I mean, would the customisation be evident in GvG's? Yes, I presume. Are PvPers willing to sacrifice a fair, balanced playing ground, which can be learned, for what really is PvE customisation-something that many have long since stopped caring about?
For example, this statement:
Why should playing PvP cost money? What about if you have no money and want to GvG? Why, you might have to FARM and play PvE for money. Granted, this would happen rarely, but the principle stands: it's a longstanding accepted view that you should NOT be punished in PvP for not doing PvE. And this is one of the main gripes that many people have-what with PvE only items, capture sigs and so forth. To put Guilds into a fully roleplaying perspective would ruin the "fair play" idea-if you could use money to buy another catapult, or put in another bridge, for example-then the guild with more money would have an advantage, which we don't want.
(And besides, rating is lost when you lose. That's pretty important when you're a PvP guild.)
Sure, it may bring the WAR into Guild Wars, but it may well throw the "skill, not time spent" out the window (fully) by turning it into more of a roleplaying experience-be careful of harming the competitive PvP community. It would turn PvP GW into a different type of game.
That said, most of the suggestions can be implemented without changing the decor of a Guild Hall in a GvG match, and it'd be quite fun. Just make sure the social/PvE aspects of guilds that you're talking about don't affect competitive GvG.
So I think mixing money/gold/items and guild battles is a no-go, but apart from that, it would definitely liven the place up.

Ok I see your point about the money issue. Who hasn’t been to TOA or War Camp? Everyone has farmed in this game whether it be fame, faction, or gold. Yes I know guild rating is important to PvP only guilds. It’s just not that big of a risk if you lose. Even GvGn’ gets repetitive, and you lose interest fast. I’m just suggesting this game needs a little more risk involved. Especially for those guilds in the middle of the ladder and up. When people buy this game they expect some kind of risk or war being the name of the game is GuildWars. Battle Arena or Arena Guilds would be a better game title for this game. In no shape of form is there any war in this game or war between guilds. They just mislead a lot of people advertising this game as a MMO or PvP war between guilds.
Anyways, how about if I make some modifications to what i suggested in my earlier post.
Taking what Paradox first said, but making the mobs relevant to the hall you purchased and make the mobs level 30
Warriors Isles = Grawls and Gargoyles.
Hunters Isles = Tengus
Wizards Isles = Charr
Druid Isles = Centaurs
Frozen Isles = Stone Summit
Dead Isle = Undead
Burning Isles = Hydras, Imps, and Phantoms
Amnoon Isles = Forgotten
In these battlegrounds you have VERY small quests like Rfox suggested.
Also unlock Mercs like I suggested that way you don’t have to pay GOLD for them or farm. You could complete these quests or not. It’s your guilds decision
After losing 3 battles your Mercs leave, and your guilds decides if you complete the merc acquisition quests again or not.
If your guild loses 5 battles in a row, you guild loses its Hall. That way your guild will have extra motivation to win.
Anyways, how about if I make some modifications to what i suggested in my earlier post.

After losing 3 battles your Mercs leave, and your guilds decides if you complete the merc acquisition quests again or not.
If your guild loses 5 battles in a row, you guild loses its Hall. That way your guild will have extra motivation to win.

As for misleading the people with the term "Wars:" First of all: It's a name. Ever hear of the adage, "don't judge a book by its cover?"
Second of all: How would adding risks to GvG make it a "war?" You'll still be fighting the same battles, only, you'll have less incentive to do so, because the penalties for losing are so much higher. If anything, it will scare people away from GvGing at all.

GvG will still be repetitive after x amount of plays, no matter how much risk you put on it. You'll only be increasing the amount of time it takes to play x amount of times, as the guilds will have incentive to avoid fighting as often.
Speaking of Guild Halls, however, I think having the ability to customize them would be a good idea, as long as it doesn't give the players any material or combat advantage. Extra storage is another issue entirely, while things like decorations or training halls sound great. If necessary, you could simply have a link to another area in order to avoid conflicts.

Maybe it has already posted before, but it could be a good idea to have a Guild Hall and a Guild Arena separate from the Hall where the GvG could take place.
My 2 cents.

GW is, indeed, more on combat, and less on the entire "customize your own house" bit and stuff. However, I do find it a good idea for some more touches to guilds.
I'm up for the idea of friendly duels. Perhaps even put stakes, aka betting items and the winner gets them.
Many rare crafting materials seem to have very little (if any other than to make money) use right now. Gems, monstrous pieces, spiritwood, etc. They could play a use in factions and GUILDS. *hint hint*

The whole idea behind a hall was to earn it with your guild in Halls of Heros .When you you got your sigil there it showed how ready you were to GvG to get your own hall.I can see if you want ot say have toggle switch to activate guild hall say with NPCs or if you choose to fight something in PvE monsters click which one you want.I would like to do more training fighting the musraat so I would click on them.

Because of the asian theme for the factions they need dancing Geishas in the guild hall. That would kick so much ass

the biggest thing i would like to see is my cape logo flying as a flag in my guild hall. a sense of homeliness would be great. little things to make it more personal. i would be willing to spend alot of gw plat to make my hall more original.

Guild halls are empty because there is nothing to do, I think they should expand the idea of guild halls a tremendous amount. The game is "Guild Wars", and guilds are nothing but clans that have capes. Here are a few of my suggestions for guild halls. 1. Have the hall you purchased start out very small, and you use large amounts of steel, iron, cloth, wood, ect and you can build sections depending on what you want. That way sigils would be a lot cheaper and lower guilds could battle but the "elite" guilds would have cool halls. 2. There should be some sort of time passing game or small little activity that the guild hall should have. Probably something like checkers or chess that they would have back then. 3. There should be challenged that characters can complete for fun, maybe if they complete all of them they get some sort of badge or item or small amount of gold . A few ideas I had were --A race, racing another monster or going through a track. --Trying to inflict as much damage as you can on a monster for a period of time. --Maybe each character would have a seperate challenge, rangers shoot off a rampart and try to hit oncoming enemies, monks try to heal a NPC while enemies bombard them, warriors try to take on as many enemies as they can. 4. Guilds should have NPCS, merchants skill traders storage ect, that would make it easier if your staying there. 5. There definately should be some area where Guild members can fight eachother. They can 2v2 or 8v8 fight henchmen ect, also you could have 1v1's that would make recruiting new members more accurate. Those are some of the ideas I had, I know some of them cant work out and my point isnt to have the activities critiqued but i wanted to get the point across the guild halls need to be better. |

Guild halls need many things added to them.
Things that would be nice:
-Another storage account
-A large guild storage account for all guild members
-Guild vs Guild should set your guild hall up as a fort vs another guild hall...
...having catapults and other things to make it more interesting, blowing up players in between halls, tricky terrain etc
-maybe personal aution house, to invite players to participate in the auction
-more henches, unless they are the same stupid ones
-with guild hall addition purchases, you could even get your own statue of balthazar or grenth, for guild FoW and UW adventures
-you should be able to use dye on different things in your guild hall
-you should be able to modify the structure and layout of your guild hall so that no one guild will have to be the same, since standard layout makes for easy planning
-etc, etc, etc

I agree with Ggraphix, Guild Storage where you can donate crafting items, and the Guild Leader would have to give permissons to take from and look at the Guild Storage.
But another Storage account for yourself might be too much, I hope they increase our space tho with Factions

i want my hall to reamin the size it is. but i want a storage, merchant, dye trader, rune trader, rare materials trader, materials trader, and skills person in it.
also i think t would be awsome if you could buy items for your hall like a hot tub, swimming pool, race track, HOUSES THAT YOU CAN WALK INTO!,a bunker?, heh maybe even a vending machine thing or chess board thing too. just liek you do with the sims and soemhow some way their has gotta be a patch making it possible to duel guildies and friends!

The point is that it not really a war. The guild wars were nothing like.....Guild Wars the only thing related is that the sides consist of guilds.
so really, there shouldnt be humongous penalties for battling other guilds, because in reality, it isnt a war.
Just my 2 cents.

Yeah when I first joined a guild everyone said come to Guild Hall for fun!
So I came.. and there was nothing to do..
We just stood around going... yup..
Anet needs to put the Guild back in Guild Wars.
But guess what.
With factions coming out, this idea will not see the surface of anet priorities for a looong time mark my words.
They will be so busy nerfing everything^^
Fantastic idea

*wipes forehead with a sigh* i finaly read all the ideas! uhh i like ALL the suggestions EXCEPT they paying a tribute thing though a 1-5k tribute would be better and you cant enter gvg if you dont have the money so ur hall cant be taken away!" i dont liek teh idea of unlimeted storage hoarding is bad! and i DONT liek the idea of upgrading your hall size your boundrys and decorations are good as they are though tehre should be guild cape banners and i liek the idea of a screenshot gallery but then again you can just use a website for taht... the rest are awsoem ideas but there should be limits to the kennel thing liek mayeb 1 of each kind of pet.

well, I was just thinking, they are called Guild Halls, but all we get is a big field on an island with a couple "bases" on each end. Could we maybe go into our base? Actually have a hall in our guild hall? All the suggested things could be placed into a room within the hall, and even, prominent members of the guild could be awarded with ther own costomizable rooms? Just a thought...
