I am toying with Warrior/Ranger right now... and here are my thoughts:
I would take:
Axe Mastery
Strength
Wilderness Survival
and either healing or smiting (I think)
the skills:
Power Attack:
- If this attack hits, you strike for 10-26 more damage.
Penetrating Blow
- If this attack hits, you strike for +5-17 damage. This attack has 20% armor penetration.
Cyclone Axe
- Perform a spinning axe attack striking for 4-10 more damage against all adjacent opponents.
Bull Charge (Elite)
- For 5-10 seconds, you move 25% faster than normal and if you strike a fleeing foe in melee, that foe is knocked down. Bull's Charge ends if you use a skill.
Tiger's Fury
- All your non-attack skills are disabled for 5 seconds. For 5-10 seconds, you attack 33% faster than normal.
Troll Ugent
- For 10 seconds, you gain health regeneration +3-9.
Apply Poison
- For 12 seconds, enemies struck by your attacks become poisoned for 3-13 seconds.
In PvP obviously take the res signet... in GvG maybe take a trap and use it in choke points. I also like the Frozen Soil ritual - if that stops the opposing team for being able to res for 30-78 seconds that would be a potential show stopper.

Does anyone know if the apply poison will work with a melee weapon?

Yes it does, and also works with cyclone axe for AoE poison, it also lasts for 24 seconds not 12, however, it takes a huge hit of 15 energy out of hte warriors energy pool So especially when youre death penalty is getting high, you cant even cast it.
