This is my current Aeromancer (E/Me) setup mainly for PvE, but hoping to take it to PvP later on.

I feel that it is a pretty decent build, but the damage output of this build seems a little lacking . I have used a pyro and hydro mancer builds: pyro for raw damage and hydro as a support mage. However, air doesn't seem to do me much good. It doesnt deal as much damage as fire and its not as good for support as water.
I really want to use an aeromancer build, since pyro is getting really boring and hydro doesn't work too well for PvE.

Air is definitely a very good choice, and I cant think of why you're not doing much damage with that setup. I'd suggest getting rid of gale, and putting in a few more mesmer skills.
The main thing I like about air magic is the fast casting. The penetration is also very deadly against foes with armor, where as with fire its about impossible to take someone out with in pvp. Fire also takes a much longer time to cast... meteor shower seems to be one of the most overrated moves in the game, I cant stand it, a mesmer could stop you dead in your tracks so easy on that one. Firestorm is another one which takes awhile.
Oh, and get a rez signet in there too, its like driving with your driver's license, you might not get pulled over, but when you do, you wont be in near the amount of trouble.
