I made a R/N build and was doing great until I reached Gates of Kryta now I am just getting owned. From day one until to day I died 2 times now I died like 12 times already today. It is most likely skill and attribs. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Any advice on Ranger/Nerco PvE build?

R/N builds I hear about in PvE.
Zookeepers [beast mastery + Death Magic]
though I'm sure u're probably not into that kind of thing.
By this point, I'm sure you may or may not have realized that blood magic health stealing just doesn't cut it to keep you alive.
Do what I did. Go Ranger Curses
[I'm guessing your stats are Expertise, Marksmanship already, so the rest can go to curses]
Death Magic usually summons armies or deals moderate damage but it's kinda costly for a Ranger's 3energy pip and 25 energy.
Blood Magic I'm not sure how to get that to work... Late game, it's ability to steal life turns crap and it's dmg is questionable for the energy you'll spend.
Curses can do 3 things for you.
1. slow your enemy's rate of attack/damage [enfeeble+faintheartedness = crap dmg. Enfeebling Blood + Shadow of Fear = neutered mobs]
2. minor/cheaper conditional healing [parastic bond/insidious parasite] I like parasitic better. 5 energy and if the energy dies right after you cast it, with high curses, u gain 90 hp or more. Let your monk do the rest
3. Annihilate mobs in short order [Mark of Pain/Spiteful Spirit] I can't tell you how happy some of my guildmates were to see mark of pain utterly demolish mobs of tree enemies/trolls in the jungle.
I'm W/N curses but I'm sure these same strategies will help a Ranger as well.

5 marksmanship seems waayyy too low for a ranger primary to be using...
hmm...
Like I said about curses, you can uses curses to heal you instead of wilderness survival's troll unguent.
Read the Wind > Ignite Arrows unless you insist on fighting mobs.
Swap out suffering for shadow of fear. Helping you live longer is better than 2 degen, by far. If you want that mob dead, Mark of Pain is really all ya need. Having ignite in there is just...

Why do you feel that read the wind is better than ignite arrows? Ignite lasts much longer and will spread over several mobs/enemies. I never felt I got enough dmg during the 12 seconds of read the wind back when I used it.

By calculation the fire explosions on the group with mark of pain and suffering should drop them like flies. We are talking like ~40 damage an arrow. Add in dual shot and you are doubling it every 5 seconds. My idea was to do massive damage to groups but seems it does not work as intended.
I need to adjust attribs but which ones? Should I drop Wilderness Survival and curses down one? Troll Urgent has saved my backside more than once. I really hate to give it up
I do not have Shadow of Fear right now so will make a trip to get it. I agree that I need to slow the foe damage down on me since they seem to concentrate on me. I am now the first to go down then they work on my henchmen.
edit:
BTW - on my next ding I will have 7 in Markmanship since i have 4 spare points. I planned to up it there but can still adjust since it is half a level

It's situational really.
10 energy vs. 5 energy
Damage outputs are similar
Mob vs. single enemy
And the real kick...
Elemental resistance. It's actually easier to kill some enemies with Read the Wind vs. Ignite Arrows simply cause some enemies can just resist fire dmg.
Oh yeah, Read the Wind causes arrows to fly faster which means you CAN side step ignite arrow dmg. It's hard to dodge Read the Wind arrows unless you dive behind something.

You shouldn't need to give up troll unguent...
But here's an idea:
Shadow of Fear + Enfeebling Blood. That should effectively reduce any melee mobs on you to practically nothing...
THEN u can use troll unguent... ^_^ at 3 seconds of start up, I dont' like it but that's not a reason why you shouldn't.

Makes sense. I swap out ignite arrow for read the wind, get Shadow of Fear, swap out enfeebling blood for hunters shot?
