New Guild Wars League
Morgant
You can find the preliminary website here, or visit us on irc at #gwgleague on irc.gamesurge.net. There is a test season planned for the April BWE, and applications should be available shortly. I myself will be donating some game items as prizes, and I believe there may be others doing the same. Again, visit us on irc or contact us through the main webpage if you have any questions or suggestions.

I don't see these prizes being very valuable. I suppose the prizes will be handed out in the end of the league, which will most likely be late-weekend. Considering there's a wipe before release, any prizes will be lost :P
I really like the effort made to put up a league though, hopefully I can convince my own guild to take part.

As soon as somone's willing and able to donate real life prizes, we'll be more than happy to make use of them. It was difficult enough to get even the in game prizes, given that this league was only announced last night, and that this will be a test season

Looks very nice, though unless there have been some drastic improvements in Monk henchmen ability I was unaware of, I don't really see the point of banning them (anyone resorting to henchmen is already quite handicapped).

Well I hope that this league takes off. I will most definately be signing my guild up once release comes out and I can get a solid team.

As a member of the committe that is going to run this league, I can say that the prizes offered once the game has been released will be quite worth it(and just like the NDA for GW, the NDA for the IGA won't let me say more than that).

In the event that you do need to use henchmen, you are NOT ALLOWED to bring a HEALER HENCHMAN.
Why are healer henchmen not allowed?

Aren't you helping with IGA? I think this is GWG, a differendt leadue.

Koreans get a $30,000 tournament, and we get 'you cannot use a Healer Henchman'. WTF? It's hard to take a tournament seriously when it has pointless, arbitrary rules like that in place.

I saw a lot of hope for the IGA, they seemed to be working on it full-time. I haven't heard near as much lately, and this other website seems to have been posted before the IGA one, so...
But in all honesty, I think Anet-run tourneys will end up being a ton better.
Oh, and Ensign, I'll chip in for a reward! *tosses $1 into a hat*`

We all know healer henchmen are overpowered, don't we ?

lol- those healer henchmen... woo... talk about suicide bombs when backfire is on em. I think it's funny to banish AI just because they lack the "I" part in games right now (Except for halo
).

The guild I'm in played in the IGA's debut tournament, and I've seen a lot of the work that they've done. I don't want to turn this into a plug, but from what I've seen the people behind the IGA are putting a lot of work into it. I think "3rd-party" tournaments could be just as fun and competitive (if not more so) than ones held by ANet themselves. It might take a little while until things get up and running, but I'm sure that as time goes by we'll get our fair share of money/prize-rewarding tournaments.

First things first, the website is going through quite a few changes, and the henchmen rule has been removed, feel free to bring them but don't expect to win with them
Also, note that there has been an address change to www.gwgleague.com
Anyway, we (Agony) also took part in (and enjoyed) the IGA tournament, and are very much interested in supporting and furthering league play - hence our efforts on behalf of the Guild Wars Gaming League. Finally, to dispel any confusion, the Guild Wars Gaming League bears no relationship to the IGA, and is currently being spearheaded by HCJ of Clan Sadface.
