questions regarding runes, upgrading and skills capturing

my questions are:
1) where do i get runes from? do creatures drop them? do i need any special skill or item for getting them?
2) how do i know an item can provide upgrades? does only expert salveging kit can produce upgrades?
3) how do i know i can get a skill from a creature and how do i get it?

1 - You get Runes from Armor or Weapons that have color type ie - Blue,Purple,Yellow(Gold). When you identify these items they should say you "Unlocked XXXX". This means you have a chance, about 2/3, of salvaging that item with an Expert Salvage.

2 - You mean like weapons upgrades? It will say Shocking Sword of Warding, meaning you have a chance to salvage with an Expert Salvage kit the hilt or the pommel but not both and mayne niether, you might get crafting materials.

3 - To get a skill you have to have a Sigil of Capture which you first get at Lion`s Arch. Correct me if I`m wrong but you can only capture Elite skills from Bosses, the creatures that glow. You have to watch what skill their using and active the sigil when they use the skill. Look around at sites, I`m sure someone has posted what bosses use what skills and where to find them.

I've read elsewhere too that you see a message saying "You Unlocked xxxx" but have never gotten that message when salvaging runes/parts. Am I missing it, or am I misunderstanding the conditions required to unlock something?
