Is there a "best" place to find weapons Pre-Searing?

I was wondering if there was actually a location in Pre-Searing where enemies or hidden stashes would drop better weapons. It may have been mostly coincidental, but I tend to find certain places drop more damaging weapons that others. Creatures outside Ascalon, for instance, tend to drop wands and weapons that do 2-3 or 3-4 damage, or somewhere around there. However in other locations I have found ones that do 5-7 or 6-8, I think the Catacombs were one of these places. So is there actually a best place to look? Or is it really spread out? Or is it really just coincidence?

I think the best has to be on the other side of the wall, fighting the charr. But that's pretty difficult unless you grind a bit to level up or have a well organised group.

There is a drake to the left beyond the skales in the river outside the main gate that some people say drops good stuff, but I found it so-so.

I think the thing to do is just to be happy with 6-8 and hit post searing. There is SO much more game out there, I'd move on.
