The Infinite Representation Of Pie And Its Many Brilliances

Hey peoples,

Been a N/Me for a long while now, and I've been specializing in death magic. Up until now my stats have been something like

Death Magic: 14
Inspiration Magic: 10
Soul Reaping: 8

And it worked out insanely good for PvE, really great, loved it. But I decided I'd bring him into the arena today, and while I brought him in the arena many times before, I've realized that if it's between me and another N/Me, and he's specializing in something...other than death magic, I'm royally screwed. Why? Because I find myself with about 8 arrows of health degeneration that completely tear me up.

So what I did was, well I started thinking. "I've already got inspiration magic, and the elite skills in that attribute pretty much satisfy any and all energy needs I have...why do I need soul reaping, a practically useless attribute in PvP?" So what I did was I just drained everything out of soul reaping and poured it into curses. Now I've got

Death Magic: 14
Inspiration: 10
Curses: 7

I intend to do some more quests for more attribute points, and max out those three best I can. I think I'll leave inspiration at 10 because that's just fine as it is, but I want to now get a high level in curses. Now I went and tried this out in PvP, right off the bat the group I landed in went on a 10 win run, not bad, I died a few times and what not, yeah. But it didn't seem like I was doing as much dot as I would've liked to. So I got to thinking, "Hey, I'll go ask the good people of Guild Wars Guru.com and see what sort of skills they use when cursing."

So, know of any good curse combinations for some strong DoT or something of the sort? I intend to basically max out my curses, so feel free to assume that the stats will be higher.

Cheers.

DoT isnt really the order of the day for cursers. You can, but i find that if your desperate for dot, go blood. You need about two skills to max someones degen from that line. btw, dont panic when you get arrows. Thats all there there for. 8 arrows is 16 hps, which since they last a max of 10 seconds ish shouldnt make a dent on your 500 ish health. Arrows are scare tactics more than anything.

Curses is about reducing the abilities of the enemy. Take a standard curse, enfeebling blood. It spreads the condition Weakness to an aoe of enemies. Weakness reduces attack damage of the target, so cast this over a melee and foes are dishing out single digit damage. There are plenty of curses, they are mainly for anti warrior/melee. Just have a look to see what you want to do, and pick the ones you like. There arent really any 'uber combos' in curses, just lots of good single spells.

You're right, that was something I just found out in a PvP battle shortly after I posted that. (Which is when I pulled all my curse points and put them into blood.) I was in an arena battle and had a necro put life siphon and life transfer on me, 10 arrows of health degeneration messed me up, needless to say, 10 seconds, nothing I could do but remove one of the spells only to have it put back on. At first I ignored them, as I'd reviewed the skills and life transfer only lasts for 11 seconds---if blood is only at 12, but it wasn't at 12, it was at about 14 or 15, so I've got about 14 seconds of -10 health, possibly more if there is such a thing I didn't count them all, and still I survived it, but with about 56 health, in which case, I dropped pretty quick. Damnit 'eh? Yeah, damnit. Well anyways I guess I'll just see how that combination goes, if nothing else there's always remove your pants and see what kind of a reaction you get in the arena, go figure.
