ok i have been playing for a while now but I am a slow leveler so I am only lvl 9 but I am kind of stuck because whenever I go to old ascalon I cant gain much experience cause the majority of the enemies give 0, but when I try to go someplace like the Breach I get killed by groups of Chaar. Will I have to play in a group to advance my character any further? Or is there agood area for lvl 9 R/Es to level?

Try doing the cooperative missions with the bonuses. The mission itself gives you 1000xp and a skill point, and the bonus gives you another 1000xp. The first few missions are easy to do with henches too, if you can't find any good people around for a group. I think the first coop mission is the Northern Wall, then Fort Ranik (but I could be wrong about those)

http://www.gwonline.net/article.php?...4&action=part1 has some good notes on what the bonuses are and how to do them

Alesia is your friend. You should take her out often.

as mentioned, you should also be doing the missions. you will level more quickly and progress more easily through the game.

I used to play by myself and with henchmen but found leveling pretty slow,as soon as i started asking to join groups and forming my own with real people i found it to be way better.

Something that did not jump out at me at first was how to do the "Mission". When you enter an area like Fort Ranik, notice that your Party window gains a "Enter Mission" button. Join a party or build one, and go!

Blae_FeatherArrow: Same experience here. When I first entered The Breach "premature" I got slaughtered, even with henchmen.

Did you explore the areas EAST of Ascalon City (Fort Ranik > Pockmark Flats > Serenity Temple > Eastern Frontier > Frontier Gate > Ruins of Surmia)? I found those areas not too hard and a good area to collect EXP, skills and items. Do the mission too. When I had finished all of those I was about level 11 and ready to hold myself against large group of Charr.

Same here. I even read the manual (the paper one, that came with the box), but it explains it really poor. It mentions that you can do missions and quests, but doesn't tell you how to start a mission. I had to read the online manual to find out.
