Farming Questions

I went farming last night for an hour by myself in an area that didn't have the best gold drops or item drops but by the end my entire inventory was filled with unidentified blue and a couple purple items and two new Vigor runes.

I managed to get 1k by just the gold itself, by the end I got about 1.5k, I had to get a new ID kit and Exp. Salvage kit so I made about 1k in an hour but if I hadn't have had I'd have made still about 1.5k.

I went later in the night with Corwin in a higher level area, which was a bit of a pain just the two of us, but we were making 100gold in about a minute rather than ten in the other area. We made about 1.5k from gold alone and by the end I had about 2k from selling off items and such, which we got less of but more gold so it sort of evened out. It was a little more annoying due to how difficult it was for the two of us, a W/E and a E/Mo kinda have a problem there. Hard to keep ontop of healing.

We went back to where I had farmed earlier and between the two of us we made 1k in gold and then plus items we sold off. We got a couple runes, even a major, and since it was Frost Gate, we ended up getting about... 38 stone summit badges between the two of us. I had 21, he had 17.

It went by quickly, and though its not the best mission to farm, it's still good enough. By the end of the night from about 5pm til 2am I made over 5k, because i had only about 9.2k in my vault, now I have over 15k. So in about eight hours I made 5k, not much but could have been better if we didn't fool around a bit on the second Frost Gate run.

So, down to the actual questions...

What, in your opinion, is a good farming run? How much gold per person and how many unidentified items? What I mean is BEFORE you sell them off what is a good amount of gold to walk away with?

I had more fun in the more difficult place, more higher level things to sell, worth more, but it was easier in Frost Gate.

How much gold per hour makes a good farming mission to you? Like how much gold you get in an hour that makes a good run otherwise it isn't? If that makes sense.

I had loads of fun last night, I wasn't in a mood to do anything serious so I farmed while Corwin worked on a new char for a bit, I had a blast compared to usual, running and doing quests that were backlogged or a new character of mine.

So, can you guys help me out a bit with some suggestions? I feel it was really successful, I more enjoy it for the fun than the profit but some tips would be nice too.

PS: I don't really have a farming build just went with what I thought would be good with my E/Mo. Can list my skills I took out with me if need be on the solo run if that would help, or any suggestions? I've got all my points into fire, energy storage and healing. 12, 10, 11 respectively in the order I put above, Fire and Energy Storage have mods to up them by one, or fire by two. Good run for me is about >1000g + salvagable items every 10 mins. Look at that link for build.

About 15k in one hour, sometimes even more depends how the drops are. With the gold item sales from the drops, you can make easily 20 to 25k a day.

20k gold per hour. Or a couple rare, unidentified armors, if that's your thing.

Despite your recent experience, I can assure you that farming runs are not fun around the fifteenth time you do them, Adaria. Farming is a very repetitive, boring, and often unchallenging game mechanic. Of course, one is only coerced into such ennui if one wants to be on a level playing field in PvP, and it really only affects the PvPers.

I'm not trying to start a flame war. I'm just showing that despite what may seem as initial fun quickly dissolves into unprecedented boredom, and you should not use this experience in arguments until you've done this experience a couple dozen times in a row so that you truly understand what farming is all about.

I don't know.... I love watching enemy health bars disappear rapidly. Especially a whole mob of them.

Watching a group of mob health bars deplete for the literally thousandth time in the exact same area is something you will grow to hate rather than love.

The golden rule of farming is 20k per hour or so. Unless you're rune farming... then it all depends on what you're looking for.

so where are good places to farm for runes and/or gold (for us e/mo's)

so far I made some decent money from blessed griffons outside of copperheard mines I think. Not too many good drops, a lot of blues, and like 1 purple (out of 5 runs maybe?) but 160 xp per griffon I think and a lot of gold. I'm really looking for some runes though and I don't know of any good places that haven't gotted nerfed(?)

I too am wondering where some good places to farm runes are. Maybe someone could PM me some decent locations?

I am also stacked at about 4K per hour at best ... but runes seem to drop better when in groups of 3 peeps i noticed. when alone i can clear 2 maps without a rune ... but on same map with 2 guildies we can get like 2 each per run. Unfortunately this was until yesterday! I need a new mob with lotsa bosses ... read updates ... if your looking for maj or sup. ... best shot is on a boss that drops armor or *cough* boots

~10-15K per hour depending on how much I bust it and what kind of drops I get. No runes, but I can just buy the ones I want. I believe I could find a better spot, but what I do works with my "all-the-time" builds (either E/Mo, or E/N) so I don't have to change anything (atts, skills, etc.) to go cash farming. It's quick (1 run is a little under 60 seconds) and EASY (don't need an uber build to do it), but wow is it BORING! Good thing I don't need much cash.

Between 5-10k. My current spot has alot of armor drops and drops runes fairly well. I'm not so much farming for cash but to unlock runes. After the update I've been unlocking Superiors left and right

I have to disagree with you. As a casual player who only had a few hours a night to play most of the time flesh golems were great.

Log on, chat for a bit, turn in a mission or 2. Run off and kill fleshies for an hour. Make 15k to afford un id'd runes at 10k a pop.

Killing the golems en-masse as a wo/mo was exciting and its great to see all the damage numbers floating over their heads along with watching them all drop over dead at about the same time. Being dispelled during the fights, which happened often enough, made the fights more enjoyable and a great way to relax a bit.

Now that is not possible. The more fun things like that are nerfed the less longevity this game will have. 2 friends have already not logged into the game for about 2 weeks now due to this stuff.

I had this great farming place, where monsters only did like 11 dmg to me with their strongest attck.
But i think anet has made a couple of changes their cause now those beast do over 70 dmg to me.

But in that run i usually had about 2 k on items and gold, and then 1 or 2 runes and a golden weapon/item

How much time did you invest into fleshies total? It would take a hundred solid hours of farming rune-dropping mods (harder than fleshies generally) to even begin to scratch the surface of the superior runes you need for PvP. This hopefully may not be true for the most recent patch however. We'll see how it goes.

i'd spend 1 hour doing the golems and make between 10 and 15k, then when I could find a seller I'd buy an un'ided rune for the money I just made. Got 1 sup and a few majors that way. Nowhere near what I'd need for PvP stuffs.
