This topic has been discussed a bit in the Attribute discussion thread, but I didn't want to hijack that thread to illustrate my ignorance on the subject.

My question is this.... If at 12 in strength you get a base 12%AP to attack skills, and Warriors cunning gives 18%AP to melee attacks, is the real benefit to Warriors Cunning that it works on all attacks, instead of skill onlys?

I think I may have answered my own question by checking the descriptions, but I just want to make sure.

Also, on average, what percentage of attacks in a tough fight end up being normal melee attacks, and what are skills? I'm sure that can be upped by using berserker stance or something similar, but I want to get a feeling for how effective Warriors Cunning is.

Thanks for indulging me.

It works on skills as well, it just gives you 18% AP when you use skills if Warrior's Cunning is on. But yes to your question.

If I had to guess... 5/6

I'd say Narc's estimate is probably a bit high. At least for a really good Warrior. What normal attacks are for is to charge your adrenal skills. While you might need a few attacks to charge things up, once you have, a well-thought out and well-played Warrior s one that's going to continuously cycle around their adrenal skills with normal attacks as fillers. I mean, look at an Axe war. They'll be running Cleave and that's a 2 hit adrenal skill. That's normal hit, normal hit, Cleave, normal hit, Cleave, normal hit, cleave. The longer that goes on the closer it gets to a 50% normal to adrenal percentage. They'll also be chipping in with the Dismembers and Executioner's along the way, too, to say nothing of the Power Attacks or Wild Blows or other attack skills that require energy and not adrenaline. Sword and Hammer wars are worse off becaise their skills require more adrenaline but I'd say 40% skills is a good figure to shoot for in order to maximize your DPS as a Warrior.

And the real advantage of Warrior's Cunning is that it's a skill. It's not a stance or an enchantment. It's classified as a skill or in other words, miscellaneous. It can stack along side Berserker Stance, Flurry, or Sprint yet it can't be removed by anything. It's got a decent duration, too. That means it works very well when you add it on to all your other damage adds. by itself it's largely forgettable, there are better things you can fit in that one slot, but like anything that buffs your damage it gets better the more buffs you can string together. So, if you have the room, try it out.

what is warrior's cunning? o.O i dont have it on my w/mo

edit: no wonder i dont have it, it's from the trainer in marhan's grotto and i haven't been there yet :P

and the description on guildwarsguru says that for 5-10 secs ur attacks can not be blocked or evaded. GREAT for ranger mobs or ele mobs that use ward against melee. ^_^
