Pretty cool points and another respectable perspective on the issue.

Hmm, I'm reading this article and that's very cool. They've got some good ideas, and it would be nice to have a single battle mode for one person + henchies. I, for fun once, took a party of henchies into HoH, made it to the third round, which skipped the second round altogether, and took out one team before the other two went at it, then the final team obliterated, but I was doing it more for fun than anything else, but it would be cool to see 1vs1 Henchie battles so to speak like they suggested...

The translation was a little iffy... I'll have to read it all later.

It didn't seem hard to follow along to me, just sounded a little funny at times, but I still understood it easily. I'm going to finish reading it in more detail later when I haven't anything else to do.

interesting- they mainly complained about the lack of fuctionality of the guild halls not the grind in GW.. like many people think they are. the koreans only complained that it takes too long to get all the skills , but otherwise it's good. also, they whined a lil about the endgame lol

They get paid to play and win, why would they care about grinding? It just gives them more time to live in luxury.
EDIT: Yeah, GvG is owned right now by grind and stuff.

KOR Hasnt won a dime, the only people who even got a reward was like WAR machine and thats prolly to the tune of 1$ per hour played if that.
not to mention out of 150 members, 16 even got money on WAR.
The $$ is crap btw.
The illusion of Korean pro gaming is pretty high, there is none to speak of in GW.
Not to mention its split 8 ways at least which cant sustain any kind of good income.
What people refer to as the "Pro gaming attitude of Korea"
Is that they will play 12+ hours a day and be considered normal instead of nerdy like in America. It is not ostricized, aka wtf you sat on your ass all day and played GW? There it isnt abnormal as much. Just more gamers in Korea porportional to population so they usually take it more serious.

Making cash for doing something you might love. A "game" if you will. Sports are basically physical games that are held above other games, most which are not physical in terms of reputation and such. I was saying that before, guys like Boxer almost had it made, and could've paved the way for superstar gamers. Now it seems like that path is burying itself.

Pro Starcraft still exists in Korea and is quite popular there. Doubt it'll go away for a long time. The growth has slowed but SC dying off as competitive in Korea seems almost laughable, at least for now.

No iirc correctly he just beat Nada 2-1 for some tourney. He isn't highest paid anymore I don't think (Nada is heh) but he's still up there along with Yellow, The Marine, and many of the other 'old guys.'

ppl still care about starcraft? :P

Korea still has an all starcraft channel, which regularly airs competitions featuring "live" coverage and commentary. In Korea, in every district of every city, there are always at least 4 pc cafes in view no matter where you stand. Every cafe has about 50 computers (the better ones have nearly 100) and every cafe cost maximum 1.50 US per hour. Every computer is guaranteed to have Starcraft on it. At any given time visiting any give pc cafe you will find at least a couple people playing the game, and if you go on a busy night odds are the person right beside you will be playing the game. I teach ESL in Korea and every one of my boy students plays Starcraft (from ages 10 up).
The game is huge and won't go away anytime that we'll be able to witness it.
As for the Korean guild's suggestions: I love that they mirrored our suggestions.
-easier way to unlock skills and runes
-1 player personal battle with or vs. henchmen (I'd like to see gladiator style vs. mobs myself)
-xunlai at guild hall
-viewable battles, watch from the stands
-upgrade guild hall (with decorations, statues, etc.) after winning.
The English was iffy, but all pretty clear. It was a pretty good translation if you allow that the person translating was Korean. The only thing out of place was "ashamed to PvP" should probably have been closer to "shy to PvP" since the two words are the same in Korean.

This article indeed suggested quite a lot of goodie, end-game is one of the most important factor for players. If there is no end-game, and winning / losing in GvG makes no difference, why we have to make efforts ?
If there is an aim, like upgrading the Guild Hall at very least, then there is something every guildmates would work hard to achieve together.

agreed...
And you should be able to invite non-guild guests into your guild hall or hold events that allow certain people (by invite) or any people (open map travel) to come to your guild hall... This would give you a chance to show off the hall so people can see how damn cool it is with all the upgrades and logo bearing banners and the tall turrets and the machine gun installments and the sliding glass doors and the caged leprecaun and the crazy janitor with the eye-laserbeams...
Okay... perhaps the upgrades should be a little better thought out, but regardless showing them off to non-guild friends or allied guilds would be great.

hi i live in korea.(english teacher0 I saw in one of the korean gaming magazines that there was a big guild war championship. prize money was korean won 6 million(about 6 US dollars) for the winning team. the big games are starcraft(of course) soccer and linieage. I have seen guild wars on the busses and tv ads. But very little coverage like the other korean games linieage 1 and 2, MU, Chaos. There will be a big game expo this fall in Seoul this year. Should be fun.
