This thread is resurrected from this thread, which was locked for some reason that is inexplicable, considering most other threads created in the wrong forum just get moved.

Anyway, my point was: Why have an Off-Topic & Absurd forum if threads that are, by nature, absurd, inane, or pointless are going to get locked? I'll use this one as an example. Locked for having no point? What's the point of any thread in there and what's the point of policing a forum that's been designated as inane?

As I stated before, I could give a damn what happens to that place, I just saw it happening and had to scratch my head. Can anyone explain?

Because of weird definations of spam? *Shrugs* Its the moderators decision when it comes to choices like that.

My response: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...7&postcount=12

Furthermore, what was your post? It was just a degenerate post about newbies. All games have newbies, and newbies are always mucking around. The post was a spam magnet, and I lock those on-sight.

Don't take it personal.

It wasn't my thread, I didn't even post in it.

It just strikes me as strange... Isn't what you would call "spam" by definition inane, absurd, off-topic, pointless? What makes it spam, specifically?

It just struck me as strange that all other threads were moved and mine was locked, and as I can see there's a perfectly good reason for it. Keep in mind I had no way of knowing this reason.

Off topic means topics unrelated to GW (or not of any focused discussion). Equating spam to offtopic is shortsighted.

Which is why it's silly to casually question a little decision made by the moderators or administrators, 90% of the time we have a good reason to do whatever it is that we do. Keep that in mind in future.

Could you not delete the spam posts, and not the thread? or possibly close it, to avoid the spam, and have the replies by mods only/

Anywho, lets relaxe and listen to music.

see^^^i am afraid if I should post that guildwars based radio station in offtopic or not, and god knows I will not get replies in Pm from a mod O-o

I just thought that it sounded cool.

Keep that in mind in future. Except when someone posts a valid complaint about the site here, and the meanie behind the badge who abuses their ability to delete a post before anyone else can read it and offer their own distaste at having their words erased, even though they were not abusive, vulgar, or whatever else the defensive MOD claims it was to avoid detection of his behavior.

This has happened to me no less than 4 times in the past week alone. So yeah, it is VERY personal for someone like me, who has curiosity and asks about things, and speaks up when it is warranted. Being shut down and having it blamed on non-existant vulgarity is nothing more than an insult.

I will assume that you are having a problem with one of the moderators, and I will assume from your "no names mentioned" and veiled flame that you really do not like them.

I suggest that instead of sniping at them with these sorts of veiled flames, you PM an administrator to resolve the matter for you.

This site is not perfect. But there is a case of what needs to be public.

If something is broken, and anyone on the team could fix it, you post it publically. If you have a problem with a moderator, (which only the admins can deal with), then you PM the admins.

Hi...I'm just wondering if threads like "What are you listening to right now?" are considered too spammy for the off-topic forum here. Some forums think so...some don't. I looked to see if there was already a thread like it and didn't notice one...although I did see a word-game thread, which is kind of the same theme.

Not sure I'd want to make one anyway...but thought I'd get clear about the policies on those types of threads in advance.

In my opinion, the OTAF threads are designed to develop a sense of community. As long as it's doing that, I don't think there should be any boundaries. Of course, this is coming from someone who aimlessly spams the OTAF threads.
