I see everyone talking about Rangers as a secondary class to a Monk. But how about a Monk secondary to Ranger? I guess every build can work in this game, but I'm curious because no-one seems to use it.

Hello! I play a ranger / monk character, currently level 15. I like this class! I don't use any of the healing or enchantment spells, right now. I have 4 ranger spells up and 4 monk.

Heal Animal
Troll Unguent
Charm Animal
Kindle Arrows
Bane Signet
Banish
Smite
Ressurect (spell not signet)

And I have my skill points in marksmanship, expertise, beast mastery, and smiting.

Generally I throw on the kindle arrows (which lets me damage groups) and then throw smiting spells until the biggest guys are dead.

I'm a rather unconventional gamer, but this works for me, I haven't had too bad of a dying issue .

You didnt mention P/E or PvP but in PvE rangers are ok, as for PvP you will really have a dificult time finding a grp because rangers are considered to be the weakest class (percieved or actual not being the point here). So youll be at the Tombs for quite awhile if your not in a guild (and then youll probly be asked if you have another class to bring LOL).

It's been PvE for the time being. I'm going to create another char for PvP. First have to get some skills.

I am rarely targetted in PvP, because as has been mentioned, rangers get very little respect (and they seem to dismiss my monk secondary). If I do become the target I can easily heal myself via whirling defense and reversal of fortune, while still maintaining protections on others. When you get good enough, marksmans wager + serpents quickness + life bond can mean an entire team (other than yourself) taking 1/2 damage. Throw in your favorite attack skill for a little bit of damage output (cause you'll always end up with extra mana using wager), as well as some miscellaneous things like frozen soil and a rez, and you're an incredibly useful support for PvP or PvE (usually take along a soc in place of frozen soil) alike.
