favor of the gods does some things like when you go to druids overlook, if no favor of the gods the statue of dwyana or whoever it is is all broken apart and lying on the ground. I take it there are other things, fountains and stuff, that don't work correctly with out the favor of the gods.

actually, favor of the gods gets you into underworld and fissure of Woe. without the favor (which is won in the Hall of Heroes) you cannot enter those 2 places mentioned above.
