Overpriced gouging economy / Where is the fun gone?

I have not played many online mmo games but the economy in GW seems
to have gone to hell. One you get a decent weapon (max damaged weapon) which you can get anywhere from (2k to 10k) depending on your luck... Besides trying to afford the overpriced (Vigor runes of 20k and 85k) and getting the 15k armor.... or maybe saving for a Guild sigil around (25k to 75k)
What else is there?

There is nothing left to the economy but evil overpriced hagglers gouging people for max plat on such vigor or superior runes.

My first character being the Warrior/Monk, the best gold max damage axe I have seen goes for 80k !!! Sad thing is, this axe is only 2 damage points away from my current axe I bought for 1k...

Sure the depth of customization drops off hard and fast...

I am now just level 20, I have my near max damage weapon with +20%, my armor is great, and I am getting new skills daily...

Besides trying to save up 80k for the Superior Vigor, what else is there to live for?

Don't get me wrong, I love the game (I have over 120 hours in my current character) but I personally feel there could be more addons and depth for the future and for characters reaching level 20 and beyond.

Like what you say? Maybe a chance to buy a pet, an unique weapon or armor customization, an addon to my cape that adds +1 damage, just something besides the pit of the depths of hell economy of overpriced vigor and superior runes, and max damage gold weapons....

I like the economy. My favorite aspect is that gold is actually worth something during trades - I hated how in Diablo II you couldn't get anything unless you had some objects of value because gold was worthless.

Correct me if Im wrong, but doesnt it show that gold is near worthless if you have to have almost a full character load (100k) to buy an item? (exluding sigils)

Uh.... in what way does that make it worthless? If you think the gold is "not worth it", then don't bother collecting the gold to spend it on the "equally worthless" item.

What Superior Rune was selling for soo much?
The highest I saw was 15K, and I think that's a good price.
Usually minors goes for 300g, major 2 to 5k and superior 10 to 15. I've never seen more.
Also if someone is soo naive and willing to pay soo much money on it. GO FOR IT. I prefer to play the game and find items on my own. I did not buy any weapon yet. Only bought 1 minor vigor rune.
I think the game is fair, and if you are a player that saves, you should be able to get at least 5-10K in few hours of playing.

Hate to break it to ya buddy, but thats how it goes in MMO's. Stuff always sells at the price people are willing to pay, and as more people come to play the game prices rise as stock plummets.

It's in the nature of an economy to work this way, look at history

It is not the cost of the economy that bothers me... I love the realistic economy... it is what lacks beyond buying a weapon, armor, and skills.

Seriously... beyond getting the superior runes you want... a superior vigor rune at 85k and maybe a guild sigil at 50k... what else is there to spend your plats on? Nothing... nothing at all... Why would I want to spend 85k on a uber gold max damage weapon that prob is only 1-2 more damage than my current weapon? If I don't spend my 85k on that... well what else is there? Besides saving the plats for another character and starting all over.... what else is there... seriously?

There are no guild upgrades to purchase.... no uber character upgrades or customizations... no nothing....

If this is all about Guild Wars... why can't one buy upgrades to their guild? A new NPC concubine to show off? A spare defender npc ... maybe a pet monster or warrior mercenary? Some new banners that **should be your guild flag ** ...

Right now, I am a solo army of one... I have a guild and a cape... Is there more to life than this in the future?

This game was not meant for any major itemization. The economy happens that way in all MMOs and there just isn't alot that can be done about it.

Some upgrades would be really cool. I think it'd be nifty to see such things as the ability to throw in maybe 10k or something and get, say, a dye vendor.

Maybe even be able to customize the look of your hall outside of guild battles with extra fountians and such.

That's just my two cents.

You jumped on the train early. 2 expansions a year and the game was just released last month, you'll have to give it a little time. If ya gotta put the game away for a while there isnt anything wrong with that, just dust it off when an expansion comes along that looks intresting. Check the forums while your waiting and keep an eye out.

This is you problem, and you are not alone. The purpose of the game is not to collect items and upgrades forever, It is to collect things once and then use them in PvP, Something you cannot do very well alone. This game is intended to be played in groups. A guild of one is not a group. Problem is nobody is willing to give up there guild name and cape in order to join another guild. As such there are 100 001 guilds of one or two people running around that will never get to participate in the end game (PvP).
