last mission in the Southern Shiverpeaks - the one where you gotta defend the fortress for a while - one guys that tries to storm the base is a Ranger boss. You can capture it from him. I almost did... but I hit the button too soon, so I ended up getting Tiger's Fury in it's stead... grr... they really need to fix the SoC's so that it automatically captures elite skills or something...

Wow, this skill is awsom. Talk about great for killing almost anybody. I think of elementalists especially, because they usually have an enchantment on themselves... and they don't always have the greatest self-defences.

It's in the Frozen Forest as well. One of the spawns is pretty near Copperhammer Mines.

I loved the time I capped it in Frozen Forest, I had poison arrow as my elite with a sig of cap. I capped this, and used it, then i was spamming poison arrow all over, to summits, my poison arrows does poison and bleeding! To azure shadows, since they dont have flesh they cant poison or bleed, but they use retribution and holy wraith, thats 20 extra dmg per arrow i do to them thanks to melandrus arrows. Excellent preparation this is.

I've been playing with this as my elite in the Competition Arenas for a few days, and I've had great success. Elementalists, most monks, and many W/Mo's have cursed my name... however, one or more of my teammates have cursed my name for using that as my elite, most notably an elementalist yesterday. He called me a noob for using Mel's Arrows after we had won 4 in a row, flawlessing one of them. I don't quite understand people's aversion to it... It's 10 energy less than Apply Poison and applies 3 degen as opposed to Apply Poison's 4, and it does more damage than Kindle Arrows, providing the target is enchanted (which in 8v8 is almost a non-issue with Aegis flying around, and in 4v4 Mending and many other Ele and Monk enchants are commonplace). I like it.

I like it. Agreed. The same complaint that people have, "No one brings enchantment removal!" means I get to rock a little with MA. Go ahead, enchant yerself! I dare ya!

EDIT: And if anyone is wondering, there is a boss right outside of Deldrimor War Camp who has it!

melandrus is so cool. and ya no one does bring removal meaning better hits for rangers. and with dual shot . the only enchant i hate is RoF and prot spirit make the dmg weaker.

wait I never thought of this...is it possible to equip both an elite skill and signet of capture, then go out and cap a second elite to have both equipped in your skill bar at the same time(and work)? if so it means that you could potentially get combos that the devs did not intend

Sure, but the elite(s) you capture will automatically get removed once you enter a town.

And Yeah, I love this skill in Random Arenas too. Kind stinks when you go up against a team that doesn't use enchants. But all those monks who use Boon, Peace and Harmony, etc. I love when Whammos use Breeze on themselves. They think they are saving themselves, when in fact they are actually making themselves weaker than a mage to me!

And since everyone is asking where to get it and such, I'll add this:

It's cappable from EVERY ranger boss in Grenth's Footprint/Sorrow's Furnace.

Happy hunting.

It's like a cheap apply poison in that case, because now you can cause bleeding with every shot. 3 pips of degen from a 5 energy prep vs 4 pips of energy degen from a 15 energy prep. And yea, seeing a W/Mo use breeze makes my day... I like it even better when they're using mending

oh on the note of having multiple elites...the elites dissappear as soon as you zone not just in towns... :-(

I was trying to make an elite run just for fun with my R/Mo equipped 3 SoC and went out into frozen forest to cap two skills(turned out the monk skill I wanted wasn't there) and then I planned to head thru the icedome to talus chute to cap the last skill, thinking that since icedome wasn't a town my elites would be intact...but alas they dissappeared and I got swarmed by an angry mob and died.

so as far as I can gether the highest amount of elites u can get in one run is 3(4 if you use arcane mimicry), one already equipped and then one primary and secondary prof. that you cap...as far as I know only ONE boss of each proffession(with elites) spawns on a map.

If you go into perdition rock with the right party you can get 8. There are 3 monk and 3 mesmer bosses, so thats 6 caps, you get to bring on to start, and you can arcane mimicry for the 8th.

I would love to see a picture with a skill bar of all elites...

super god combo!

Melandrus Arrows
Apply Poison
Judges Insight
Dual shot or Penetrating Shot!!!

Holy treats ALL armor types as 60 armor, so all skills/ shots do a GUARANTEED amount +20 armor penetration/poison/bleeding.

Quick Shot was turned to an Elite because of this!

Poisoners bowstring or vampiric... I'm not sure if the stronger poison is better than the guaranteed +5 dmg/+5 heal of a rich ass vampiric string.

Just really quick...Apply Poison and MA won't work together since Preparations don't stack...so unless you plan on hitting them once or twice with Apply Poison, then switching to MA, it's not doing what you're trying to plan.

In most cases it is bad to have more then 1 preparation in a build.

I love this skill. Anything with any sort of enchant seems to drop like flies.

Same principle with Apply Poison. I think it was because he'd be hit by 3 conditions and get big heals from a 5 energy spell.

You get this skill in Thunderhead Keep which is the last mission on the Southern Shiverpeaks. Besides that, this skill is good in PvP expecially against elementalists because they're almost always enchanted.

I wouldn't really call this good in PvP. The big problem with this skill is that people don't put enchantments on without a good reason, due to fear of Shatter/Drain Enchantment. So you are almost always going to be better off just removing the enchantment (either reducing the target's effectiveness or making him more vulnerable to both you AND your teammates), rather than just getting a tack-on damage for yourself that's not much better than Kindle. Fun in RA, but I wouldn't use it anywhere else, including PvE.
